That's too bad.  I don't suppose that there would be any kind of appeal process for that as it is sort of an appeal to begin with?  ???

Hark!  We have a NPU Poster in Lakeshore :D  I gave you a Karma Point so there is no gooseegg on your column.  Welcome aboard, now tell us what is going on at North Park's Kingdom?
I am disappointed that Spencer was not granted another year. Talent like Spencer's doesn't come around annually, therefore it is exciting to see young athletes perform like that.  Sure he tore opponents up and he is a great tool in the toolbox, however I think it is great for NC and the CCIW if he were to play.

I believe this was the appeal already, yeah.

Some news from Elmhurst Campus.
At our monthly Alumni Association meeting this past Sat. we discussed the progress/future of the 10 year "Master Plan".  While most of the planned projects are dorms, academic bldgs, etc.  the one thing which applies to us is reconstruction/relocation of the football stadium.
Now I have no knowledge as to when this will happen ( could be 10 years), but Langhorst Field is going to be relocated to the North End of campus along the Chicago Northwestern RR Tracks.  The field will be similar to Wheaton's McCully, where you have the tracks in the background and the field running East/West.  To the north of the field are the tracks, to the immediate East will be a multilevel parking garage, to the south will be a sidestreet and buildings, and to the west will be pretty much untouched with existing land.
From a media standpoint I hope they give the visiting/home radio teams their own booths.  ;D
My guess is this will happen in 5-7 years.
One sad note,  the softball diamond in the SW corner of the campus is going to be torn up and built into a new Residence Hall.  We used to play whiffle ball home run derby on that little diamond. :-[

Hi Pat,  how are you doing?  What is your opinion on the Spencer debate?  ( If you don't want to show it on this board, feel free to email me about it).  MR

I have no idea of the specifics of his case, what he was trying to get a redshirt for, what his status was at Indiana, etc., so I think it's not very meaningful to give an opinion.

I'd be interested to know the details of Spencer's case as well. According to the NCAA career stats site:

http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/careersearch;

he played in 12 games at Indiana his freshman season and another 9 as a sophomore before playing his junior and senior seasons at NCC. If those numbers are accurate, I'd wonder why he would even be considered for an extra season of eligibilty. If anyone can fill me in on something I'm missing, feel free to do so. Thanks.

Pat Coleman

He only caught seven passes his sophomore year at Indiana. It's possible the games played total reported to the NCAA is wrong.

That's about all I can think of.

From what I heard, it had something to do with DiNardo wanting to use up Spencer's eligibility as soon as possible so he could get that scholarship back.  Tyke apparently didn't fit his scheme, so he used him as little as possible to barely get him over the minimum amount of time to burn the year.  Sounds pretty shady on the Indiana people's part.  Anyone else hear different?

CardinalAlum  that is typical D-1  and has happened before to DiNardo when he was at LSU.
I think NC will still be strong with/without Spencer.

CardinalAlum and 79jaybird:

I'll throw my 2 cents worth in:  if that is the case (re: Spencer), that is very sad, actually dispicable on DeNardo's part.  Perhaps that is, in part, why he is not coaching anymore (at least not a head coach).  Just MO.

I know a few players at Indiana and my Cousin ( when she was there) mentioned that DiNardo has a "dark side" that you don't see on tv.  He is rather shady when it comes to scholarships and playing time.  That is rather sad.  I would bet that there is more shadiness that you just don't hear about that is under the table in major college/league sports. >:(

I hate it when schools and coaches screw kids over when they just want to play ball.

Where's the love for a former All American Domer?

There must be something to all this speculation when you wonder why his alma mater never gave him any considerable consideration when they had openings the past few years!

I love how my karma got knocked down again for posting the above.  Must have been an Indiana grad!!  I know, i mentioned the K word.  Oh well!  Pat, I have a suggestion:  there should be a way that the person that leaves you karma, good or bad, has their name show up with it.
