The Centennial does what Wally describes -- non-conference games in Week 1, conference starts in Week 2 and the conference slate has a bye week around Week 6 or so.

That makes a lot more sense than the CCIW's method. Of course, it means that CCIW coaches would only have one slot in the schedule in which to slate a non-con game, rather than two.

In fairness, "the CCIW's method" is also the method used by every other conference -- scheduling conference games consecutively in a block to end the season.

I know NCC has had difficulty scheduling non-conference games.  With only one open week, there are years in which NCC may not have been able to fill the slot and would have had two bye weeks in any event.

I like the 10-team league and that each week, especially down the stretch,  you have to "grit it out".

Every team is facing injuries, pains,  tough decisions.  If not,  then you have to wonder are your guys playing intense enough?  :o

My HS football coach used to say,  "Winning is not easy"   &  "Winners find ways,  losers find excuses"    2 very true sentiments indeed.

WashU was down 17-7 at halftime, on the road at Augustana.  Bears came out of the locker room a different team, hanging 24 unanswered points on Augie in the 3rd quarter for a 31-17 lead entering the 4th quarter.

Johnny Davidson is getting close to the WashU single game record for passing yards.  453 yards and 4 TDs, at the early stages of the 4th quarter.  Nick Cione has 3 TD catches and a total of 147 yards, and TE Mitchell Groen has 11 catches for 143 yards.

Sounds like the Nicco Stepina situation is still up in the air.

Big game tonight in Decatur.

Not only might Stepina still be out, but MU lost their two top running backs last week, one of which leads the conference in rushing. If all three are out a green wave will sweep over the Millikin gridiron.

Unfortunately, it seems Nicco Stepina has a torn ACL, and his fine career is over.

Without Stepina and likely RB Howard this really shouldnt' be much of a contest for the Titans. Millikin isn't great on defense anyway and without the ability to score (They scored 14 on Elmhurst without those guys last week) IWU won't have much trouble tonight.

The CCIW has become a 2 horse race and next week's IWU v NCC game is a play-in game for the AQ.

Titan Q

Per the Millikin broadcasters, Nicco Stepina is starting...and so is top RB Howard.

Sounds like the rumors of Millikins demise has been greatly exaggerated.
