Is Ron Planz actually in jeopardy of losing his job, or are we just thinking out loud here about possible replacements for him?

I was thinking out loud on what kind of big name high school coaches might bring a "Thorne like" presence to a D3 football school.   I know nothing about Planz or Elmhurst.  From my point of view, keep him!  ;D

Bryan Stortz comes to mind as a great fit in the CCIW. He coached Lake Zurich to state titles, and then had success at Rock Island HS and now is rebuilding Conant (they just won the MSL West). He knows the areas that the CCIW recruits, and he played at Augie and was a finalist for the job there. I thought he would be a great fit at Augie, but I could see him doing well at several CCIW schools.

Good call.  Great coach.

Looking at HS coaches,  Brent Pearlman.  He was my Soph year HC and then Jr year  Def. Coordinator for the Varsity.    He led our school (Prospect) to 3 state titles.  Now I believe he is at Wheeling?

My initial point was Elmhurst is going up against long standing veteran coaches,  whom have really built up a solid foundation.   When EC chose Planz (and I have nothing against him personally as I've never met him),  I just wondered why the Jays didn't look for a guy with some proven success at the college ranks.

Question;

I know there has been a lot of talk about the likelihood of the CCIW being a one playoff team but.....

Right now, IWU is ranked above WC. I expect both (and NCC) to win Saturday. If that happens and a second CCIW team makes the playoffs, would it assuredly be IWU as they would be ranked higher going into the last regular season games, or can WC somehow jump over IWU if both win Sat?
Thanks.

I don't see Wheaton leaping over IWU if they have similar records because IWU has the head-to-head result.

IWU and Wheaton are both currently ranked behind a pair of NCAC teams that may be at-large players as well.  CCIW runners up are well out of the picture right now.

Wheaton and IWU have the #1 and #3 highest strength of schedules respectively.  How much is that taken into consideration?

Wheaton lost to an as-yet unranked 7-2 team. How would they go to the playoffs? Things that make you go hmmmmm...

You understand that at the moment, Wheaton is not going to the playoffs, right?

Oh, I most certainly only do understand that. I'm trying to understand how anyone is even thinking there is a possibility of that happening, given this week's rankings and their head-to-head results from this season...

Wheaton is not only compared against Washington U., though. The head-to-head result with Wash U isn't favorable but they played other games, including a non-conference win against the West's seventh-ranked team.

Yes, I imagine that's calculated into their SOS. Still, I feel like their making the playoffs is an impossibility. You don't have to try to talk me into it.
