Comet,

Welcome!  Your son should have gone to North Central, though!  ;) :D

Comet 14

He visited there but not 1 of the coaches called him back or showed any interest. That surprised me considering the fact that we left them game film of my son INT'ing there QB's younger brother 4 times in one game in the play-offs as a junior.

That's not the first time I have heard that.  I hope that we are not still thumping our chest over last year!  I hope your son has a great experience at EC.

Newman DB eh.  I know that same QB was the backup as a freshman last year at EIU.  You guys must have had a hell of a game plan for him that day and he must not have been hitting on all cylinders.

Hello and welcome Comet 14,

Glad to hear that your Son has chosen Elmhurst.  I am a big advocate that in terms of education, beauty, and great athletics, you can't go wrong with any of the 8 CCIW Schools.  Their Athletic Programs are second to none.
I think your Son will like Coach Journell and the Staff. They are "down to earth" and very approachable.  He has joined at a great time as the program has been steadily improving  6-4, 4-6, and 6-4 the last 3 years.  Before that, the program struggled.  I played for Paul Krohn who is the Athletic Director now.  Coach Krohn was the person who sold me to come to Elmhurst.  He is a great person and I have never heard anybody ever say anything different.
What position is your Son looking to play and (I don't know if they have picked these yet) but what jersey does he wear?  Hopefully I will be calling his name/jersey often for I am the Bluejays' Radio Play-by-play man.

Comet,  I hope your son has a great time at Elmhurst, both on the field and off.  Welcome to the CCIW.  I am sure that you will be very pleased at the level of competition here.

we were very impressed with coach Jounell and his staff and that was the deciding factor to Jordan's decision. It was down to either Elmhurst or Luther College and I am glad he chose Elmhurst. He will be playing DB and we don't know what # yet. He wore 14 in High School we have registration on the 28th so we should find out then. I would like some info on when people start tailgating before games as we are planning on bringing a lot of people to the first game. One of Jordan's classmates will be attending Benedictine next year.

Comet14-- When I played at EC our fan base and tailgaters were few and far between.  Nowadays, we have a group of 15-20 families that participate in a tailgate at Elmhurst.
These people gather in the West Parking Lot behind Hammerschmidt Chapel and South of the Cemetary.
They usually start an hour or so before the game, and keep the soup hot/(choice beverages) cold after the game as well.  All in all, this is a pretty neat event.  Nothing like Lambeau, but still pretty good.  Adds to festive atmosphere of football.

Thanks Jaybird at least now I can tell everybody where to meet. How long have you been doing the games? And on what station?

79jaybird

This fall will be our 6th season covering both home and away games.  On the radio dial we are at WRSE 88.7 FM, which is the campus station.  You will only be able to hear this about 10-20 miles away from the campus.
The best way to listen to us is online at www.wrse.com and find the live link.  Our Internet Broadcasts have been heard worldwide.  This is how my Grandparents follow Elmhurst in Florida.  ;D  If you are on campus at a game, feel free to stop by before/after a game.

79jaybird-- Thanks I will for sure stop by. Keep me posted on any upcoming media guides for the football team. We don't hear much out here in Sterling

Comet, make sure to use d3football.com (commonly referred to as the front page).  You will get a wealth of information.  I have found the more tuned in to other teams in the area/nation, the more fun it is to follow my alma mater Wheaton.

I was not discrediting your defense, I was just saying that you set a record against a pretty good QB

Formercard-- I didn't intend to make it sound like that. Our defense played as good as it could for a 3 week stretch.
