Hey hey,  nobody is denying that Norm is a great football coach and has continued to be a model football mind.   What he does off the field is his own choice and sometimes (others) may not like or agree with it.

I have always said (on and off the air) that you can't go wrong with any of the CCIW schools.  They are all fantastic colleges Academically, and have strong extracurriculars too.   So I don't think anybody would ever  boo-hoo a potential recruit from attending a CCIW institution.

Good luck to both Wheaton and NC this weekend.   I have a good feeling about this weekend for both of our schools.

Stagg Again!!

Frank, Frank, Frank.  A battle-tested Del Val team may pull off the win in Naperville if they can put up more points that NCC, but I'm thinking that this group of young Cardinals is quite focused on the goal at hand at this point.  I don't see the Cards having a let-down game in front of the home folk at B-W.

I agree 100%.  A DelVal fan on Twitter believes that their defense will hold NCC to 15 or less.

i know, I know, twitter is garbage but I can't resist reading all the trash talk before the game.

Good luck to both Wheaton and North Central. Pulling for both of y'all.

;D  Last time NCC was held to less than 15 points was 11/26/16 when Broc Rutter was a freshman.  I'm thinking that I would take this bet if the Del Val fan wants to make the game a bit more interesting.

I guess my question now is, what's the over/under on when NCC crosses the 15 point threshold? Say, end of the 1st quarter (which would allow for at least a couple drives)? Midway through the second quarter? :P

The biggest opponent NCC faces tomorrow is the emotion of playing the week after beating Mount.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I'm pretty sure most d2 teams couldn't hold NCC under 15...

[Thank you...very, very much.

I wish the Cards all the best tomorrow and every game going forward...except Saturdays when they play IWU...LOL.

I'll be at the NCC game tomorrow.  NCC winner 48-14!

Wheaton....best of luck as well!

Football is a collision and velocity game.  It incites people beyond the norm and takes us outside of who all of us really are on an daily basis.  AndOne is a great fan of NCC, but just a little outside of his "Norm".

Now...I kinda just tripped over this...and laughed....we all have different levels of "Norm"!

HOW DO I BLOCK AN IDIOT? ???

You have just been sent a personal message by AndOne on D3boards.com.

IMPORTANT: Remember, this is just a notification. Please do not reply to this email.

The message they sent you was:

Eash was right?  ???
So you think NCC wasn't really as good (read the Weenies weren't really as bad) as the 69-14 licking they took from North Central? That's a nice combination of both ignorance and a denial of reality.
Did you read ALL the comments? They were from fans/posters from several different teams. But sure, all those guys are wrong, and Eash is right and was telling the truth. You really have already bought the whole pitcher of green Kool-Aid. Thinking Wesleyan had a decent game after getting ass-kicked by 55 points. Dream on.................

And, no, no need for Eash to build a shrine to Thorne. But it would have been nice for him to have told the truth, and to have given the other team the credit they deserved—-something Eash has always found it exceptionally hard to do.[/b][/i][/i]

IS THE FOLLOWING AN INITIATION JOKE FOR THIS THREAD?  IS THIS WHAT THIS BOARD IS ABOUT?

I get this unsolicited crap message from a guy on this board. Now, I guess I get thrown off as he states?

THE FOLLOWING WAS SENT TO ME:
Quote from: XXXXXX on Today at 08:09:32 pm
If you were under the impression that Norm Esch is a "class act" you were sold a bill of (defective) goods. He is generally loathed by the other coaching staffs and fans of all the other conference teams.
After IWU was taken apart 69-14 by NCC Esch said "I didn't think they were 69-14 better." He never gives any other teams credit. You can choose not to believe this but if you don't, check out the comments by several fans of several different conference teams on pages 2583-2584.
Not sure what led you to believe he is high class, but that impression is not shared by many outside of Bloomington.

Additionally, since you're new to the board you might not know it's against the terms of service to post any info that is told to you in a private message from any other poster without their permission. Doing so will get you banned from posting.

Good luck to your son at IWU.

MY REPLY:
Are you joking with this message?  Seriously....
Read what you wrote.  Guess what, Coach Eash was right.  But you take that as not being classy?  Should Coach Eash have built a shrine for Thorne?

Getting banned from having idiots message me with crap like this would be a blessing.  What a cowardly way to talk about someone.

I'll be in the visitors stands Saturday with my son...come say Hi.

AndOne, I get it.  You don't like Eash.  And yes, many of us feel the same.  But you made your point.  Move on and leave this man alone.  You are a Cardinal (I think).  If so, act like one.

Nachos, this is a special time in your son's life.  It goes by way too fast.  I hope you both enjoy every minute of the journey.  I sincerely wish you and your son the best of luck... except on the Saturdays when you play NCC (Sorry, I had to throw that in)!  And no need to sit on the visitor side on Saturday.  Come sit on the home side and cheer on the CCIW - if not the Cardinals

Real question: If you are Wheaton, would you even want to see North Central again in the Stagg Bowl? On one hand, you've beaten them once already, and are 4-1 against Rutter as the starting QB. But on the other, parallels to 2017, where NCC beat Wheaton (Rutter's only win over the Thunder) and then the Thunder came back and beat them the next time around. They do say it's hard to beat a good team twice. Ideally for Wheaton, someone else would knock off the Cardinals as they take care of business on their end. Also, if it did end up with the two of them in the Stagg, does Swider put the Bell on the line? I recall Thorne would not put it up for the playoff game. Thoughts?

I for one would be thrilled to play NCC again because that means we won the next 2 and made it to the Stagg. There is no statistical validity to the wives tale of beating a good team twice. It stems from the idea if you have a 50% chance to beat a team and play them twice the expected result is 1-1. But if you flip a coin 2x you could easily get 2 heads as often as you get 2 tails. So if these two play again, the percentages will be what they are and the first matchup has nothing to do with it, statistically speaking. Probably a pickem game if it happens

I wouldn't put the Bell up. Its a regular season game trophy. They lost, we won. See you in Naperville next year.

Completely agree on the Bell!  We can take it back at home next year!   ;D   ;)

I'll gladly let them keep the Bell and we will take the Stagg trophy this year. Deal? Deal.

                                                100%

Wheaton plays St Johns sat. One game at a time. You win you move on to the next opponent.  That's it nothing more. Always have your hands full with the opponent your playing.

Sadly, whatever I do will have ZERO impact on the outcome of the game on Saturday.  So I have the luxury of looking ahead.

So it's just like when you played?   :P

You would know, you were sitting on the bench next to me.

When I played real option football at Tinley Park in the 70's we learned many things that are advantageous to football and life in general.
                            1. Never look ahead.  While no one can keep this 100% during the important things this will serve a person well.
                            2. Always give your best even and especially against the weakest opponent.  Half effort can become a habit.  On the field fight for one more yard, inch, blade of grass until the whistle blows.
                            3. keep positive it will become catchy.  The way I talk to my teammates effects the whole team.  Especially during a game.  Nearly every time I said or had said to me "I'm doing this and this you will be able to do that that's what happened eventually.  That was to a running back as an o lineman or on defense as a tackle or linebacker.
These things can be used in life too.
If I look ahead and start talking this and that especially if it is something very interesting it can plant a seed which can plant another seed on and on.   That can have disastrous consequences in life when you think you have an easy path overlook something important with your present endeavor.

I completely agree that those are excellent words to live by - in life and in football!  But we are all just spectators here.  I don't take any of this too seriously.

I think it is fair to say that many of us are excited by how our teams have performed this season and that we are still in the "hunt".  I see no harm in talking about all the hypothetical situations that could unfold in the next few weeks.  What's the worst that could happen?  Be disappointed if our team loses?  I can deal with that....

There ain't enough room for two washdupcards in this town. Impostoré!!

                I insulted the wrong one!

Don't worry, I'll consider the insult received.

When I saw the other guy posting I was wondering what in the hell happened to your post count.  I guess this explains it.

I'm seriously trying to figure out how to change my username.  Maybe I can't change it or the concussions are catching up with me.... TBD.

Great games Saturday.  NO INJURIES!

matblake

Good luck to all teams today.  Should be a good slate of games no matter who you're pulling for.  Let's keep it safe!

Hope Wheaton can limit the penalties.  Would hate for mental errors to influence the game.

Stay focused NC.  Del Valley made it this far for a reason.

This is an exciting day.  And I hope I'm as excited at 4 PM Eastern Time as I am now.
