NCC is a primo spot for a transfer QB. They are loaded on offense except for that position so it's an easy sell for Coach Thorne.

For the Thunder I think I have a pretty good handle on who is returning. I think they will have around 8 starters back on defense and 6-7 starters on offense from the 2019 team.  Dallas McCrae (2019 DPOY) is the headliner on defense where they will have 7 of the 8 starters back up front from the #1 defense in the country. The secondary has guys from the 2 deep back as well as 2 starter but that's where they have to reload.

On Offense they will need some new WR's to step up but Spencer Petersen, Adam Terrini, Luke Anthony and Jake Hibben are all back as 5th/6th year guys.

Kind of late in the game to bring in a transfer, isn't it?

Not if they were on campus in January or even this August. It's not ideal, but Rutter came in early and was pretty good day 1.

USee,

As I reviewed Augie's roster, it is exactly the same as the 2020 roster, so I don't think the posted roster is accurate.  It looks like they just transitioned the 2020 roster over to 2021 as it has the same names, numbers and order.  I would be shocked if they are bringing back every senior from last year and, from what I've heard, that isn't happening. In addition, there is usually a pretty good drop off of players from their freshman to sophomore years, so 53 So.'s would be a huge number.  If you add in a typical freshman class on top of those numbers, that would mean Augie has about 200 players on the roster, and after seeing some pictures of the first couple days of camp, I don't think that's the case.  Hopefully, they update the roster soon, so we have a better idea of what the numbers look like for Augie.

Augie6,
Do you know if Sam & Scott Tumilty will be on the 2021 Augustana roster? I remember seeing an article that the brothers will be playing football for the Vikings, but a google search resulted in seeing that Sam ran track & field for College of DuPage this past spring. Just curious...

T-Dog - I had seen the same article and was pretty happy about that when I read it, but clearly it didn't pan out based on the info that CardAlum posted.  Not really sure why things changed as it would have been nice to see both brothers playing at Augie.

Quick Google search showed a transfer QB from Whitewater to NCC in March 2020 (Dylan Mlinarich, 2018 Elgin St Ed). Can't dig up any more though!

The same Spencer Petersen who previously played some QB, and some basketball for WC, I assume.

Thanks CardAlum and Augie6. I followed the Tumilty brothers HS careers at Willowbrook (from a distance) and was looking forward to watching them play n the CCIW. Wish them the best at St Francis.

Perhaps at the Y intersection you guys should have taken the other fork. 🤗

Yes same Spencer P. back for his final year of both FB and BB I believe.

Wheaton's scrimmage on the 26th is against Olivet Nazarene, not Hope.

IWU's roster...

https://www.iwusports.com/sports/football/roster

147 players.

From things I have read and heard, I think newcomers with the best chance to make an immediate impact are:

* Ryan Saxe, QB (Fremd HS)

* Artist Benjamin, DB (Loyola Academy)

* Nate Rapplean, OL (Fort Zumwalt North HS, MO)

* Trevor Griffin, WR (Andrew HS)

* Anthony LaMantia, DB (Cary Grove HS)

* Jarrett Crider, WR (Morton IL HS/transfer from NCC)

Saxe will compete for the starting QB job.

All right!  CCIW football returns,  let's hope for a full season.   This is just a FYI reminder first games are 9/4, so look for week 1's on the Pick Em's board a week from today.

Is he eligible for a gold watch yet?

He's been at Wheaton longer than Bluto was at Faber.
