THunderdog, I don't see an LL team getting left at the table if its 9-1 Ithaca or 9-1 Union. Both need to lose. I agree Hardin Simmons should be ranked above BSC.

Agree here on the LL. Teams on the edge of Pool C selection need to hope for a BW loss to JCU and be fans of RPI and Cortland Saturday. None of those would require upsets of any magnitude and are all very real possibilities.

A lot going on in the regional rankings this week as teams go from being simply listed to actually ranked. We get to see how the different regional committees value criteria and how some position themselves for their region to succeed.

The Five stacks up like this:
1   North Central (Ill.)   9-0   .542
2   Central    9-0   .466
3   Wheaton (Ill.)   8-1   .495
4   Lake Forest   9-0   .450
5   Aurora   7-2   .570
6   Coe   7-2   .517
7   Chicago   8-1   .471
8   Wartburg   6-3   .575

I believe these regional committees know how the system works and so they use the criteria to set themselves up for optimal success. In the Five, they are setting up for seeding for the top teams and they see Wheaton as the optimal pool C candidate. If you look in the Six, they put Gustavus in the rankings this week, which strongly bolsters the MIAC's top teams to potentially get 2 bids, even if Bethel loses this week to STJU a second time. Interesting that the Three put BSC ahead of Hardin Simmons. Doesn't make sense.

Wheaton could still use a Baldwin Wallace loss to John Carroll this weekend and for both Ithaca and Union to lose to RPI.

Looking forward to the D3.com's take on all this, probably coming soon.

FWIW

Quarters Led
LF 30
Chicago 27
Monmouth 26

My gut feeling today is Chicago beats LF by 2+ scores.  Will be interesting how the quarters led plays out. Chicago could find their way in with a pool C bid.

HansenRatings has the following for CCIW scores (and others of interest):

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CWGPM2oS3wJRnRFHE5Wey9sV_tU_1Q82EYxSfNCAM7k/edit#gid=1760997105

Augie @IWU -2.3
WashU @Carthage +17.6
Carroll @Elmhurst +13.3
Wheaton @Millikin +41.5
NPU @NCC -61.9

Pool C games to watch:
St Johns @ Bethel +10 (MIAC Championship-Winner gets AQ, Loser is Pool C)
UWRF @UW Oshkosh -5.3 (Winner to the Isthmus Bowl)
Ithaca @Cortland -10.6 (Ithaca is in with a win as either AQ or Pool C)
Chicago @LF -1.3 (AQ battle for the MWC)
JCU @Baldwin Wallace -1.7 (BW is probably in as Pool C with a win)
RPI @Union -5.5 (Union is in with a win via Pool C)

NCC up 63-0 with a minute or so left in 1st half. The cover seems to be pretty safe.
You win! You always do!

Update on a non-CCIW game with big Pool C implications: Bethel leads St. John's 21-8 at halftime in the MIAC title game.

St. John's will undoubtedly poach a Pool C berth if this holds.

Embarrassing display being put on by IWU.  I hope Norm can work some 2nd half  magic  >:(

Bethel still leads mid-third quarter.

A few other games have broken Wheaton's way today.  Using USee's list from up the page:

John Carroll over Baldwin Wallace  JCU wins 29-28.  Big result for the Wheaties.
St Johns over Bethel  In progress with Bethel leading
RPI over Union AND Cortland over Ithaca  RPI rallies late and Cortland wins after blocking a potential game winning field goal
LF over Chicago (Or Chicago wins and gets the AQ)  Lake Forest wins 28-6

Oshkosh leads River Falls 14-13 at halftime in another game that is in the worth watching column.

Dear JCU... but also Dear Cortland and Dear RPI:
Many thanks, many thanks, many thanks!!!

Johnny Magic strikes again.  I would think Wheaton is a lock as pool C with today's results.

Yep, I would agree.

More or less all of the games that had things hanging in the balance were decided late late late today.

Unrelated, unless I misheard the commentary, I learned on the NCC broadcast today that Gregory was a standout on NPU's national championship basketball teams in the 80s.  :)

Lol did I make that part up? My bad. He's just so impressive in so many areas I don't doubt anything that the dark corners of my brain may or may not have attached to him. I should have stopped talking at that point but didn't think anyone would still be watching.   :P

I think you should just roll with it and create an alternate history that takes root.  Would be fun to watch the legend grow over time.

Lol every time I mention him I’ll add a new “factoid” that get gradually more and more outlandish. He’ll be a one time ringmaster of the Ringling Bros. And Barnum and Bailey circus by the time it’s all said and done.
