Any chance Central's travels to Wheaton?

Central was ranked second in the region and Wheaton was ranked third.  The game will be in Pella.

USee

100% it will be in Iowa.

Should be a marquee second round matchup. Both teams brought back a ton of seniors who had "unfinished business" from 2019. Central has everyone's attention with their performance today. Wheaton will come with the utmost respect for a dangerous and motivated team and will be prepared for a war.

Today's game was pretty much a complete domination by the Thunder. 63-13 when they pulled the starters. The Aurora starters stayed in and put up 3 TD's including a nifty hook and lateral from their own 1 yd line that ended up on the Wheaton 5, scoring the next play. I didn't really understand where that play was in the 2nd quarter when it could have actually meant something. Zimbelman is legit. He played like a warrior today, despite being under duress. He had about 200 yds passing when the starters left, ended up with 420.

16 teams left. It's all uphill from here.

True.  Both CCIW schools will have their hands full next weekend.

In 2010 NC hosted undefeated and #1 ranked WW. It has happened before...

Wheaton was higher ranked at seasons end.

Absolutely. LaCrosse looked good against an overmatched Albion.

In 2010 NCC was the higher seeded team. The D3 football rankings aren't part of the criteria. We knew from the outset of that tournament if both teams advanced, NCC would host.

I'll be surprised if UWL stays within 2 scores next weekend. That's my opinion.

Bethel is on the ropes v. Central. Unfortunately for Wheaton, their announcers are pretty sure the same result will occur next week. Dutch color guy at least is confident you are not the a top 3 team in D3. Use that motivation as you will.  :)
Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Nope, just quoting what we heard during the game.

I must admit that I was surprised by two things in today's UWL v. Albion game that maybe someone can answer/explain.  First, why were UWL's starters in the entire game?  Second, why was UWL passing the ball when they were up 44-16 with 4:28 to go in the 4Q?  It is difficult imagining Albion overcoming a 28 point deficit at that point in the game.  I suppose that this is part of the "multi-year development" process that long-time poster, emma17, noted on the WIAC board.  There is a difference between keeping your foot on the throat of your opponent until a win is in hand and killing your opponent.  I would have expected to see UWL pull their starters and/or employ better clock management by running the ball more to secure the win.

Separately, I was impressed by UWL's OL (especially the LG and LT), loved the quickness and playmaking of Joey Stutzman, and am looking forward to watching big body TE Will Josten play in person.

I certainly hope Coach Thorne is breaking out the game film from 9/1/12 to share with the boys.  This UWL team reminds me a lot of the 2012 team and will certainly capitalize on our mistakes.  Just hoping that we don't have a few inches of rain next Saturday like we did in Naperville back in 2012!  :-)

I can think of a lot of adjectives that I could personally use to describe UW-L. Some of them complimentary and most of them not so much.  But if I listed my top 100, "nice" is not one of them.

I think I'm missing something in this conversation, all of which seem to be among non-Wheaton fans. Is the implication here that Wheaton and/or their fans would be all upset if they are not considered among the top THREE teams in the nation? That would strike me as more than a little odd.

;D ;D ;D Running on to the next opponent's board to tell them the radio announcers from their current opponent that is beating you has faith in their team? Thinking a team like the Thunder needs a radio announcer's belief in their team as motivation? Seriously a sore loser move. I am sure Wheaton will be plenty motivated by a second round game and their desire to win a national championship. If they need motivation from a radio announcer they would be pretty desperate.

Stagg Again!!

I was just taking a look at the schedule for next weekend.  When was the last time we had at least six marquee matchups on Week 2 of the playoffs?  I really want to watch SJU v. Linfield, Central v. Wheaton, NCC v. UWL, Cortland v. RPI, Mount v. JHU, and Del Valley v. Muhlenberg.  The other two games don't pique my interest only because UWW should be able to easily handle DePauw and MHB should take care of BSU (though I am not so sure about even that after watching the Trinity game yesterday).  Hats off to the selection committee.  This has the potential to be the best and most balanced tournament bracket in recent memory.

Agreed.

However, I don't understand how DePauw got to host RH in round 1. Without looking it up, it always feels like Mount goes East and always gets an easier draw then the Midwest teams.

Look what the top seed on the left side (SJU) of the bracket has to potentially go through....

Undefeated Lake Forest
Undefeated Linfield
Undefeated UMHB
