Just cuz they wanted the early game next week in the Eastern Time Zone? Stupid reason but the only thing that occurs to me.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

That was a thought I had, but I don't know that ESPN would have that kind of pull.

Apparently the UMU sports information department was just as surprised as the rest of us, from what I hear.

Well, the cynical thought is the NCAA wants a local team in the Stagg bowl if at all possible for ticket sales....

Could be the case Kitchen, but that is not playing well in Naperville.  The boys are now fired up and the NCAA has put a huge target on Mount.  This game just became more intense than it was already going to be!

Not sure that's right because in 2016 the early game was in the central time zone

Won't matter much regarding the outcome. But yeah...sucks for the fans that have to travel.

They want a game in Eastern time zone, easier to stagger the times of the two games then.

Seems to be the general consensus

This is so wrong on every level.  NCC more than EARNED the #1 ranking and home field throughout the playoffs.

Division 1 games located in the central time zone routinely start at 11 AM for TV and ESPN knows that. That can't be the reason.

It's probably something that makes even less sense.

Agree Izzy.  Must mean that NCAA had Mount ranked higher than NCC on their board.  The Cardinals will have every opportunity to show the NCAA the error of their ways next week in Alliance.

I went to check the numbers. Mount had a slightly higher SOS (.535 to .521), but NCC was 3-0 vs RRO (#3,5,8 in Region 5) compared to Mount's 2-0 (#4,5 in Region 4). And if that's considered really close, wasn't recent playoff history supposed to come into play?

Make it make sense.

ESPN thinks Mt Union is a better for TV viewing than NCC's stadium.

There were challenges with Muhlenberg's stadium in 2019 but they still played the game there.
