Agree about Carthage winning by double digits. Having seen both teams the last two weeks, Elmhurst is seriously lacking in talent.  Carthage does have a couple of legit players on each side of the ball but not enough to compete regularly.

Greg you are spot on.

80% of our Philantrophy is going to Academics.  I.e. Chem Dept. new machinery, graduate assistances, fellowships, etc.
This is great (don't get me wrong),  any gift(s) are much appreciated.  But in terms of athletics,  well that suffers in a sense that any $$ coming in is not trickling to the athletic fields.

Oh I think Carthage wins Saturday comfortably, but I was looking at it more from a standpoint of EC trying to establish any kind of consistency so the embarassments don't continue all year long....

Great you can appreciate this, back when I was doing the PBP '01-'10  I was using equipment from the 70's.   I think
Howard Cosell's directions were what I was reading on equipment usage.   ;D

Yes, I remember the box you brought with you when we called the North Park @ Aurora football game together a dozen years ago. I remember looking at that device and thinking, "This looks like something Gene Roddenberry would've used as a futuristic tech prop for Scotty in the original Star Trek series back in the late '60s."

Too bad the special box isn't still around. Maybe Scotty could use it to beam up some magic plays that would allow the Jays to fly a little higher.  :D
So young hero, ask yourself............................Do you want to go to college, get a good education, and play (basketball)(football), or do you want to go to college, get a good education, and watch (basketball)(football)? 🤔 😏

Don't surround yourself with yourself. 🧍🏼‍♂️(Yes)

Holding or hands to the face, depending on where applied.

Interesting insights on finances and program success, but today is Thursday of Bell Week and we are focused on Elmhurst and their struggling program.  I would like to hear thoughts on The Thunder traveling a few miles into a night game and a Blackout for the Cardinals.  Which is the real Wheaton? The team that traveled to Texas and played stout defense against a highly touted team returning many starters or the team that was torched in the air by a middle of the road Augstana squad?

And as for the home squad, for the first time in three years, many new faces starting and an important one with a new headset, can they hold up to the hype and actually win back to back for the first time since 2010-2011?

We are talking about Elmhurst and their struggling program because posters want to talk about Elmhurst and their struggling program. This is the CCIW board, not the NCC-and-Wheaton board. Those two schools don't have exclusive rights to authorize topics here during the week of their annual rivalry game.

If you want to start a conversation about that game, that's your prerogative. But you can't run off people who want to discuss something else.

almost choked up my PB&J sandwich for lunch (or perhaps a Brantosaurus Burger ala Fred Flintstone) reading this.
Bell week.  I think NC wins this game.  Not easily, but comfortably.   NC's offense is operating at a high level.  It's going to be can Wheaton's defense keep them in the game?   IMO, this stays reasonably close, but NC pulls away  second half.

Didn't mean to cause a stir Gregory but without a separate thread besides this CCIW Football option, thought I might throw out a different topic as we head into another football weekend.  As historic as the Bell Game is, I also see the Augie / Carroll game as competitive.  Augie finally finding some mojo after all these years or will Carroll continue their slow progression toward the middle of the CCIW pack?

Gregory Sager

Hey, throwing out a different topic is great. Have at it. That's why we're here, right? To post about whatever comes to mind regarding CCIW football.

But complaining about a current topic that's engaged other posters when you want to talk about a different one? That's just rude. You could've simply started talking about North Central vs. Wheaton without also putting down Elmhurst and the people who are discussing the 'jays, as though it's somehow beneath us to be talking about EU here during Bell Week.

But, yeah, I'll engage the new topic. I think Carroll will beat Augie by ten. I like Augie's QB, but I think that Carroll has more weapons on both sides of the ball.

I think the Bell Game should be a good one.  I think we'll see how stout Wheaton's defense actually is.  Naperville has a lot of weapons and the weapons are talented too.  It will be interesting to see Naperville's offensive gameplan.  The most success in general against Wheaton's defensive philosphy has been short quick passes.  With Greenfield the red team wants to beat you into submission.  My heart says Wheaton by 3, unfortunately my head says Naperville by 10.  Fortunately the forecast looks good for Saturday evening.  Hoping for a good game and safety for all!

We are definitely in "football-weather" season now, that's for sure.
