D3sports.com is reporting the CCIW has revoked WashU's associate membership in the conference for football, and the Bears will be out after 2025. WashU has gone 33-12 in CCIW play and 37-15 overall since joining in 2018.

Interesting...and makes me wonder if they have someone that fits and is itching to join as a full member.
You win! You always do!

Lame. Maybe they should have invited in UChicago if they wanted a lesser opponent.

If you read the story which was updated with commments from the conference office, it seems pretty obvious it's trying to open up a spot for a new full member.

Quote"The CCIW Council of Presidents have been closely watching the conference membership shifts throughout D-III," CCIW Executive Directory Maureen Harty told D3sports.com. "It is in the best interest of our core members to be in a position to act quickly if the opportunity presents itself to add a core member that sponsors football."

I have no idea what it takes to join/leave a conference but would think a school like Aurora would be a natural fit.

My comment was pretty obviously trash talk rather than a thorough break down of the decision.

I read the story. It may be true that the CCIW is looking for the next full member. They may even have that member in mind.

In 2024 when even a Wittenberg appears at risk of closure and Millikin was in the Wall Street Journal reportage of schools at risk, it may well be time to add a full member.

I do think Aurora or Benedictine would make a good full member of the CCIW if they were interested.

Agree with those last two. They would fit well.

Halftime
UWO 13. Wheaton 7

2 bombs for UWO 65 yd TD and 63 yd TD

Wheaton finally got their offense going with a 93 yd drive.

UWO 21 Wheaton 14 Final
Huge pass interference call on 4th down on UWO's game winning drive.

What's the deal with that call against Oshkosh?  The Wheaton
db got absolutely Mossed, Oshkosh has a 30 yard competition and it gets taken away with a loss of downs for a "disconcerting act"?

Was hoping Wheaton would have accepted the gift and sealed the deal with a win.  It wasn't meant to be, I guess.  It's going to be tough to wash the stink off the CCIW after this afternoon's slate of games.

Yes that was strange. Great catch by receiver. I was just googling disconcerting acts and only thing I found was related to a defense trying to simulate the snap, like yelling "hut".

Elmhurst, Millikin, IWU and Carthage all lost by 35 or more. Some tough scheduling. I think we'll get some wins tonight.

Correction. Looks like Millikin only lost by 25...

It was an illegal touching. Receiver stepped out of bounds in his route and was the first to touch the ball.

Illegal touching.  Hardly disconcerting.  I mean, it's a rules offence but not particularly offensive.

Illegal touching = disconcerting
Illegal formation = disappointing
Illegal hands to the face = despicable

It won't be Benedictine, that's for sure. Aurora is a distinct possibility.

North Park 42
Ripon 41

One of the craziest football games I've ever seen, and certainly the craziest one I've ever called. There were three touchdowns scored in the game's final three minutes: A Ripon QB sneak with 2:41 left that culminated a drive of almost seven and a half minutes and which put the Red Hawks ahead 35-34 following the PAT (NPU had had a PAT blocked back in the first half); a quick 11-play, 66-yard drive by the Vikings that ended with a 17-yard Eck-to-McCloud TD pass, followed by an Eck-to-McCloud two-point conversion that put NPU up by seven points with exactly 1:00 left on the clock; and a six-play, 68-yard drive by Ripon that ended in another QB-sneak touchdown and which was built around a 38-yard pass down the right sideline during which the defender fell down.

That put Ripon's Coach Marshall in the ol' go-for-the-tie-or-go-for-the-win dilemma. Down 42-41, he elected to go for the win -- and the Vikings put on a serious rush that forced the backpedaling Ripon QB to throw the ball off of his back foot. It sailed on him, and although the Ripon WR caught it, he caught it five yards out of the back of the end zone. A failed onside kick and a victory-formation kneeldown later, the Vikings walked off of the field with a win that looked like a chained Houdini escape from a full tank of water.

This game should not have gone right down to the wire. Not to badmouth Ripon, which has some talented football players and which fought incredibly hard, but the Red Hawks don't have NPU's talent or depth. North Park was penalized an absolutely absurd 14 times for 138 yards, and over a third of Ripon's first downs in the game came on Vikings penalties. A fair number of those penalties were stupid unsportsmanlike-conduct personal fouls. That mess played a significant role in helping to keep the Red Hawks in the game. If NPU doesn't clean that stuff up, this season will become a disaster fairly quickly.

Great days for Matt Eck (25-42, 329 yds and 5 TDs, only one pick), who showed plenty of senior poise when the going got tough; and the superb receiver combo of Jereme Ombogo (7-135, 2 TDs) and Wesley McCloud (9-144, 2 TDs). Big days as well on the defensive side of the ball for All-CCIW players Jaydin Miller and Juan Nieves.
