Who all's going to the game this weekend?

The atmosphere was awesome for the UMHB game. Hoping for the same on Saturday.

No Sacco or Coleman on the 2 deep for NCC this week, which is a bummer. Everything else on the 2 deep looks the same as the quarters EXCEPT no Orr listed anywhere.

i would not read into who is listed on the 2 deep.  I have no knowledge if Sacco or Coleman are playing this week but the 2-deep throughout the season has not been an accurate portrayal of who is actually playing that week.

For instance, it didnt have Jack Rummell or Jerred Durian listed at all last week (nor does it now) but both started against Springfield.

Rummel was missing but he was questionable wasn't he?

And I'm pretty sure Durian was on there as a starter. I compared both before posting. The only differences were the RBs and Orr.

Both Rummell and Durian missing completely.  Both started.

Blake Ottow listed as starter at safety and Garrigan not listed as all.  Garrigan started against Whitworth.

Orr not being listed this week doesnt make any sense either.  We know he didnt leave the Springfield game injured, he left because of the targeting call.  We know that has since been overturned so doesnt make sense for him not to be listed. I think there is a chance both Coleman and Sacco play this week.

Congrats to Luke Lehnen for being a Gagliardi finalist.

A good friend and fellow Cardinal alum, Jon Stillman, wrote an article on Luke earlier in the year (linked below).  For all the gaudy stats that Luke has put up, one thing mentioned in the article is the fact that because of North Central's lopsided victories, Luke is only averaging around 37 offensive snaps a game!

North Central College Quarterback Reaches Amazing And Lofty NCAA D3 Feat

Looking at the NCC v Susquehanna game and after reading the piece on the front page of D3Football.com I was thinking, could Susquehanna be this years Cortland? It's certainly possible.

Last year going into the Stagg bowl here were the NCAA stats and national rankings:

NCC:
Offense #1; #2 rushing offense, #81 passing offense
Defense #38; #19 rushing defense, #103 pass defense

Cortland:
Offense: #7; #18 rush offense, #34 pass offense
Defense: #68; #117 rush defense, #49 pass defense

This game delivered. Both teams lived up to their offensive rankings and put up numbers larger than their season averages. Defensively both seemed to underperform their season long rankings. Of course NCC's injuries on the defensive side in the championship game are well documented and likely a factor. I don't know what Cortland's injury situation was.

This year NCC and Susquehanna come in with the following stats:

North Central:
Offense: #2; #3 rushing offense, #73 passing offense
Defense: #26; #31 rushing defense, #48 passing defense

Susquehanna:
Offense: #3; #9 rushing offense, #40 passing offense
Defense: #131; #37 rushing defense, #217 passing defense

This game looks to be a similar matchup to last year's Cortland game on the offensive side of the ball. North Central virtually the same as last year and Susq even a little better than Cortland's last year. Defensively, though there is a bigger discrepancy. NCC's defense is better (and appears healthy) mainly on the back end and Susq defense is significantly lower rated than Cortland's was. While Susq rushing defense is markedly better than Cortand's, their pass defense appears much worse.

What all this means is open to interpretation. I expect a lot of fireworks on Saturday and a fairly high scoring affair. Can NCC slow down the River Hawks run game like they did Salisbury? Can Susq get any stops at all against NCC's high powered run game?

This game doesn't scream blowout to me and I think Susquehanna comes in with a lot of confidence (rightfully) having beaten St Johns on the road and Bethel at home back to back.

NCC is the more complete team and should win by 2 touchdowns. However, having watched Susquehanna live, the triple weapons of Ehrlich, Howes and La Mons is as good as there is in  D3 Football. The only way the Susquehanna Defense can contribute enough to make a difference against NCC is forcing opportunistic turnovers. Hobart(lost 42-35) is the only team that held Susquehanna to under 400 yards by stopping the run in the second half and somewhat containing Ehrlich, but they had their way with us in the first half. NCC needs to stop them early, otherwise these guys are totally capable of trading touchdowns all game long.

Sources say Sacco good to go. Coleman also available. Orr playing. NCC overall pretty healthy.

This game will certainly be determined by how well the NCC defense can slow the River Hawks offense.
