Defense and special teams the story so far for IWU.  An interception and fumble recovery both by Brian Smith lead to a Mike Berry field goal and Marcus Dunlop TD run for the Titans.

IWU 18
Olivet 0

in addition to the iwu game, I'm watching the Millikin - ONU game on the ONU livestats page...

it was only 7 nothing ONU until ONU got a 27second drive for a TD off an 80 yrd run... ouch... 14 nothing ONU at the half

Whoa!  Scoreboard shows BW 17 - Augie 7 as a final.  Can anyone confirm this?  Man, I was WAY off on that game.  I know BW is from the OAC, but I didn't think many had high expectations for them this year and I assumed Augie would score at least 21.

I'll be interesting to hear what happened in that game.  Turnovers? BW defense just stuff the wing-T?

Ditto... I thought that Augie had this game... but I'm sure glad I didn't I didn't have the same score expectations though... wasn't Wheaton's win over BW a few years ago a low scoring game?

This is going to be a bad week for my picks with IWU currently crushing Olivet. So far I'm down 8 pts for sure, counting the bonus, with the Augie loss. With the 2 for Olivet looking pretty bad... here's hoping Wheaton and NCC save my tail!  :o

Olivet just scored 6, incidentally, making that game 18 IWU, 6 Olivet

Millikin is now down 21-0 to ONU...

They fortunately, for their sake, just got a punt play back on an ONU penalty and has the ball on the ONU 41. This has all the makings of a slaughtering. Guess that answers my "hmm, ONU returns nobody" concerns when I was making my picks.  :D

Yes diehard, the BW-Wheaton game was a slugfest. Final 16-12.

BW was coming off 2 straight down years, including a 4-6 season last year.  They have 14 starters returning for 2006, so I didn't think they'd be turning it around that much.

I expected Augie to be pretty tough this year, despite big losses due to graduation.  Like I said, it'll be interesting to hear the details.  Was it the young offensive line?  Sounds like the defense did relatively well, as holding most teams to 17 gives you a good chance to win.

Incidently... the D3Football 2006 Kickoff predicted a 5-5 season for BW in 2006.  Looks to me as if this was definitely a surprise result.

Yes, well they are ranking in the top 20 for a reason then...

bad scene for the cciw today if the score in decatur holds up. our top rated team loses at home to a middle of the pack oac team and millikin getting handled by a predictably tough ONU squad. its going to be tough to argue anything but mediocrity for our conference with these results.

Seems like there is already a fair share of upsets today.  Looks like Wabash is in danger of falling to Franklin.  The vaunted Wabash defense has given up over 31pts with Franklin on their 4 yard line at the start of the 4th quarter.

Could be an interesting day.

usee,

You going to be at the Wheaton game tonight?  Guys I played with are coming in from all over the country for the first night game.  Should be a good game.  I'm interested to see how Wheaton does against a quality team with 1 game under their belt.

Titan defense steps up big again!  Olivet driving, INT by Eric Esch, dazzling return 80yds for TD, but called back on a penalty during the return.  First down IWU on own 11, under 9 min left in the game.
