Augie's passing game today for those keeping track at home...

13 attempts, 8 receptions, 62 yards.

That would be a completion percentage of 62 percent. Not bad! :) Augie's gonna throw more attempts in the non-conference season than they did all last year!

Augie actually had less TOs, generated 40 more yds of offense, and had the ball for 10 more minutes than BW.  That guy who fumbled the ball shortly after the Augie defense made a pick in front of their own endzone (the score was tied 7-7 at the time),  is going to be kicking himself for a long time.

Incidentally, 79jaybird, unless something changes, my plan is to catch the Redlands - Witworth game tonight at 7pm PST (wearing a Wheaton football shirt :) ), and I'll have to leave the house by 6 to make it there by kickoff. It's obviously not Wheaton, but football live is so much better than football on the radio, I don't care how good the broadcaster is.... sorry! :P Sooo... I may be able to catch the beginning of the game, but I'll be counting on you for a good summary!

Gooooo Wheaton! :)

Ouch! Tough to put much of a positive spin on this one. Similar to last year's home-opening loss to Central, although in that game it was primarily the defense who let the Vikes down.

I didn't make it to the game, but I'd be interested to hear from someone who did, whether B-W did anything schematically to shut down Augie's running game or it was just a matter of the Yellow Jackets dominating the line of scrimmage. My fear is that it was probably the latter. It's not time to panic yet. Last year they rebounded nicely from the Central loss to run the table in the league. But you obviously have to be concerned that their mostly veteran, experienced offense couldn't put anything together today.

I see Millikin also lost at home to Ohio Northern. Unfortunately, the OAC continues to beat up on the CCIW.

Mr. Ypsi

At least the ONU win was expected (on the OAC pickems, the line was ONU -24.5, so Millikin beat the spread).  The OAC line was Augie by 38.5!

I picked Millikin :) and Augie :(.  Professional gambler is not one of my career options!

Apparently it's not for the OAC guys that set the lines, either.  ;)

fightintitan, yes, in my 4 years there I don't think I could count the times I heard that phrase, which is why I wrote the letter.  If I remember correctly, you were just coming off a 3 game losing streak.  You did win that week, against Carthage I think, so I'll take the credit, thank you.  In all seriousness, as I'm sure you are aware, Norm is much maligned on this board and, quite frankly, often times in our own locker room.  I personally believe that he's just a bit misunderstood (which is easy to do with him) and his fault lies in that he acts with his emotion too often instead of his head.  But, nobody loves IWU more than he does to be sure.

Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

North Central down 17-0 to Concordia with about a minute left in the 1st half. I don't believe this was the start they were looking for.

North Central trails Concordia 17-0. NCC Drove the length of the field, would have been about a 30 yd field goal, they went for the end zone instead, to no avail.

Kniss seems to be struggling, he threw an INT in the endzone early, and has yet to find Stuedemann.

Freshman RB Dominic Sulo (Mt. Carmel) is the only bright spot for North Cental right now.

heh... if NCC loses this game, I'm soooo quiting the pickems  ::)

Wheaton is up 9 nothing.

Incidentally, for those listening to the d3football broadcast, be sure to still tune into www.wheaton.edu/wetn for the video... from there you could just mute the volume to listen to 79bluejay instead if you want. :)

Sulo had 61 rushing yds and 41 receiving yds at half. Not bad for a frosh RB.

Touchdown North Central, Dominic Sulo.
