I have attended both of Augie's home games this year, and as much as I hate to say it, this not a good Augie team, probably the worst in decades. However, as much as Augie is suffering a drop off this year, IWU has become really horrible. The Augie-IWU game used to be a big one, but this year I think both teams will finish in the botton 4 of the CCIW. IWU has a shot at an 8th place finish.

I have not seen Elmhurst, but I will be surprised if they do not win Saturday's home game. If ever Elmhurst had a good shot a breaking the streak, this is it. I'll be there with the rest of the Augie faithful hoping for an "upset."

Comet14-- The AFCA has Elmhurst in the also receiving votes category. You can check that poll at www.afca.com  under the polls link, then find the latest D-3.
Right now Elmhurst should not be ranked.  They have 1 good win in last week's Carthage game.  If they beat Augie (which I think they will),  then they will be right on the outskirts of the every poll.  I think this week's games will make the CCIW picture a little clearer.
I hope Elmhurst remembers how to play/win at home because it has been 3 weeks since we have been home! :P

Being a Titan homer, how can you say that IWU could be 8th place?  In the IWU-Augie game, IWU threw three picks and had two punts that went out of the endzone.  I will agree that IWU is not as strong as we used to be, but to say we'll finish below North Park is cold, REAL COLD.  I'm hoping you may change your mind after this weekend's game.  I think IWU has had a shakeup on their offense and should be able to tackle a good Carthage team.

IWU's O-Line better bring their A game tomorrow.  Carthage's defense is strong, very quick, and loves to throw different fronts in the offense's face.  Will Dunlop start? And if he does, will he pick up where he left off?
The Carthage team I saw is very good and barring turnovers, probably comes out with the W last week.
8th place?  I don't know about that, but I do think IWU is slipping away from the pack of the CCIW.
IMO  contenders---  Wheaton,Elmhurst/ North Central
Needs some big wins--  Carthage, Millikin, Augie,
Needs a lot of help-- IWU, NPU
Just my opinion on what I have seen so far.

I say this only because D3 voting is different than D1 voting in the fact that there are ALOT more teams and the publicity of D3 is not that great.  Therefore, it seems to me that voters go off standings more than strength of schedule.  If anyone believes differently, please tell me.

You describe the AFCA poll perfectly.

Our voters, however, get a lot more information and strength of schedule is absolutely a factor. Otherwise why is 1-2 Linfield in our Top 20 and not in the coaches' poll?

Our Top 25 teams have a combined total of eight losses, 60% more than the AFCA's Top 25. Who is voting off standings again?

Titans or Red Men  ;)?  I'm saying Titans, riding an emotional high from Homecoming, win 23-19.  You?

I also have Grayslake Central over Grayslake North by 18.  35-17

I know the Titans will play well at their field and it's their homecoming but I think that Carthage is a bit stronger overall than IWU. I'll take Carthage 24-17

And I'll take Grayslake Central over Grayslake North 42-7

I think that if Elmhurst wins Sat. ( and I think they will ) they will recieve some top 25 votes. Anyone else feel the same?

I'd say it depends on a few factors.  If Elmhurst wins big, then yes.  But if it's a close game and they barely squeak by, I would say no because Augie is only a 2-2 team right now with wins over teams that are not that impressive.  Poor IWU.  :'(  Either way, at most, they'll get a handful of votes but won't crack the Top 25.  I say this only because D3 voting is different than D1 voting in the fact that there are ALOT more teams and the publicity of D3 is not that great.  Therefore, it seems to me that voters go off standings more than strength of schedule.  If anyone believes differently, please tell me.

elmhurst is a lot like carthage from 2004. carthage didn't break the top 25 until week 9 when it beat a then #4 wheaton team. Elmhurst won't break the top 25 until they beat a top 25 team (wheaton). its not where you start its where you fininsh.

this was the blurb on Elmhurst in Keith McMillans ATN this week:

Elmhurst
The Bluejays had broken a habit of two-win seasons by surging to six wins in '03 and '05. But the revival comes in this season's 4-0 start. The Bluejays started with five wins last year, but lost four of their final five against a backloaded schedule. This year their start includes Saturday's 20-13 win over Carthage, the Bluejays first win against one of the four teams that did a number on them last season. Augustana and North Central are next up, so it could a short revival. But perhaps the Bluejays are ready to ascend into the CCIW's high upper echelon

I will be at the Augie/Elmhurst game today, and hopefully might be able to find something significant as to why they are performing so poorly on offense. As Augiefan said they are not as good of a team as years before by far, but as of now I can only attribute it to being inexperienced. I however wouldn't say that Augie winning today would be an "upset". This however should be the first time in years that the game could go either way based on the "stats" leading into the game. It should be a close game, but more importantly it will be Augie's first real conference test (and on the road no less).

GO VIKINGS!!!

TrueAugieAlum

As stated by me on the Same old same old posts the coaching staff is not playing the best players on offense.  Additionally, the starters are in there the whole game.  You can see the line getting tired throughout the entire game.
Why doesn't the offensive coaching staff start coaching instead of relying on the same plays that the entire conference knows they are going to use?
Defense saved their butts last game.
Better yet, why doesn't Coach Barnes start paying attention to the melt down that is happening to the offense?
My prediction:  Elmhurst win  :'(

I couldn't get the game on one computer so I tried on another and I got the game. Are you trying to get the broadcast from IWU or Carthage?
