Boy it sure seems NCC is getting slammed in the last few days. This sounds like the last few years when the topic of top 4 and bottom 4 teams in cciw was discussed.NCC moves into top 4 a few years ago and everyone says they have to do it more than 1 year, they did.Give em a little respect.Last year they manhandled augie and did pretty well against wheaton without kniss and holden.I can hear it now if they win saturday.Ncc has`nt beat augie yet or ncc has`nt beat carthage yet.Prediction: NCC by 14.

sica-sica,
I don't think anyone is slamming NCC.  Most I see posting have a health respect for NCC's program, in fact I believe I've seen quite a few posts indicating they are the team to beat - from Wheaton grads no less!  :o  My recent posts have to do with polls, rankings, media coverage, etc...  Last time I checked, NCC hasn't won a CCIW championship in a LONG time.  Sure they may be in the top 4 of the CCIW, but they haven't won anything yet!  Do you really expect everyone to view them above Carthage and Wheaton just yet?

So why do you find it surprising that Wheaton, Carthage and Augie are getting most of the print?  I'll guarantee you if NCC beats Wheaton this week, you'll see them jump in polls, you'll see them begin to get exposure.  If they keep winning, they keep climbing.  Just because some of us hold this opinion, doesn't mean we are slamming NCC, does it?

Just checked the CCIW site.  Last time North Central won the conference--1960.  Not that they haven't been competitive in the following years, but naturally more attention is going to be given to teams that have won since then.  That list includes Augustana, Millikin, Carthage, IWU, Wheaton, and Carroll (no longer in the conference).

Quotewhy is north park the latch-key kid on every topic we have here?

I would have to say that the reason is because over the last three years NPU has gone winless in the CCIW. As for the game on Saturday agaisnt Augie I would have to say that it might be another handly win. Our defense finally showed up agaisnt a UW-P teams that lets face it is better than NPU, and our offense really hasn't missed a beat all year (Central did play us tough but we still got a bunch of yardage). NPU is getting better, but lets face it if you are going to get a conference win this year, it is improbable that it is going to come on the road against one of the perrenial favorites in the CCIW. My congrats on the 3-0 start but I have a pretty good feeling that the trip back to Chicago will be one with a 3-1 record.

As for the comment on the play-action pass (I am sorry I haven't been by a computer lately so this is late) I found it hilarious. I mean for a team that runs the ball 95% of the time I would be more concerned about what my front 7 (or 8 or 9 in the case of Augie) are going to do and not what my secondary is going to do. I forget who said it but I agree with the comment about making sure that the D-line doesn't end up near the secondary after every play. One thing that I might add about that is that if the saftey doesn't bite on the PA it means that Roe could have a field-day running up the field on scrambles if he chooses as there will be one less guy in his way.

Good luck to all this week, as there is really only one game that should be an easy win.

Another real quick comment focused on the NCC v. Wheaton game. On paper it should be the best game of the year in the CCIW (national coverage shows that quite frankly), with both teams seemingly stacked ready to play great football. Even though NCC seems to have a talent advantage I really have to agree that someone (such as Carthage last year) really has to knock off the conference champ Wheaton before they can have the edge. I really think that it is going to be a great game, but it seems that the pressure proven Thunder are going to be able to win a close game after NCC makes a couple of ill-timed mistakes.

Wish I could make it to that game because it seems like the atmosphere is going to be amazing for CCIW football. In all honesty it is only fitting that the game is going to be played under the lights, the way I think that all big footbal games should be played. One again good luck to both the Cardinals and Thunder.

I still think Augustana will win by at least four touchdowns.

Didnt mean to come off so abrasive. Just a football fan who doesnt like seeing teams that have been competitive, deemed conference champs and all world beaters. NCC has done well for itself, lately, but are they the top dog in the CCIW, I dont think so. Time will tell, but im not sold on them yet. Wheaton,Carthage and Auggie are still the big boys. I wouldnt be surprised if Elmhurst or NP sneak up on NCC. Oh and redman96, you really need to relax! Have fun on your date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Starting to sound like the IBC Post here...  :(

Whoa!  Pages 39-41 have shown a drop in class in the CCIW (judging by some posters).  Leave the *hit about dates, what you do in your personal time, etc. off and talk about constructive CCIW topics.
Nice gesture by the CCIW to have a moment of silence before each game Saturday.  I'm sure it will be hard for IWU to play.
I understand the Kudyba parents are going to spend a half on each side for their two sons are playing against each other.
In regards to NC, I think the Cardinals are poised in the right direction and building up a program to join the big 4 (Augie, IWU, Millikin, Wheaton).. are they there yet???  Well that depends on how you look at it.  I personally don't think they are there yet until they consistently beat the Augies, Wheaties, and Millikins.
I would love to be able to say Elmhurst is moving up in the CCIW world, but they haven't shown consistent winning ability in conference.
Should be a lot of fun this weekend.  Good luck to all.

While I also agree that Wheaton and NCC will be a great game, I do not know if it will be the "game of the year" like this board is making it. Based on last year, Carthage/ Wheaton will be the game of the year. Let's also not forget that the Carthage game at Millikin will be fantastic one. If Millikin gets lucky and beats Carthage (I say lucky as a very bias and loyal alumnus) then the Augie/Wheaton game will be "The big game."  The conference is so strong this year that name one game that will not be big.
Think about this, three years ago would any of us have thought that the NCC or Carthage vs. Wheaton would be a possible championship deciding game? No disrespect to the Augie/ Wheaton game, but everyone knows that will be a great one and has been for awhile.  How about NPU vs. IWU and EC vs. IWU would that have even be considered a game to pay attention to?  Not in the past, but this year they will be very good games.

Again to over state the point that everyone else has made, Wheaton is the team to beat.  Who ever does will win the conference!  I hope its Carthage!!!!!!
