jaybird, do you have to go it alone again or will you have your color man there?

I would have no problem with NCC as a cciw rep in the playoffs.

Wow... is the "Little Brass Bell" week that far removed?  usee has gone from referring to them as the "naperville school" to the comment above.  You alright?

Being a former Wheaton player I certainly have a problem with this.  There are still 4 games remaining until the CCIW champ(s) is crowned.  If NCC is on top in the end, ok... then I'll root for them (a little).   ;)

P.S. - I know I'm taking the comment out of context... at least I hope so.  ;D

On a side note, how about those Cardinals last night?  Even though I'm a Cubs fan in my heart, those Cardinals played a great game last night and came through in the clutch.  I am a Tigers fan though (was just old enough to root for sports when i lived there).
Sheesh! You're a "fan" of a lot of teams! :D

Haha!  Thanks buddy.  To clarify, at the time i was learning to walk I lived in Detroit and became a Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons and Lions fan.  My dad was transferred to the far north suburbs and I became a Cubs fan automatically but still held ties to all of my fave Detroit teams.  I have been a lazy Bulls fan, mostly because of MJ in the 90s.  Now I live in St. Louis and really only liked the Cardinals because of the game last night.  Usually I root for the Cubs and the team that plays against the Cards!! ;D

Does that help fightintitan?
And of course I bleed green and white...

In losing the bell (ring it!) the naperville school earned my respect. IF they win out and the Thunder should falter I will, as always, support the CCIW rep.

That will not happen though!!

I agree Rucks has done a nice job building the Carthage program but also NPU has never had the facilities they have now.  And being only a few miles from Wrigleyville has to have some draw.  If Carthage runs the ball as well as they did last weekend vs. our Vikes then she ahould be able to stay in the game Saturday vs. Augie!

Even though this is probably a typo, I still think that it is funny that Carthage is referred to in the feminine.  +k for lakeshore, inadvertant or not!

Exactly what I thought... just could let the comment go without saying something in jest.

It's a little too early to say since the playoff picture hasn't exactly shaped up yet.  Yet, if they do win, they will most likely run into Mt. Union or even UW-Whitewater(?).  We can always hope once they get there.

I doubt any CCIW rep will see UW-Whitewater (assuming they win the WIAC  :P) in the first few rounds.  WIAC teams are typically (though not always) put in the West Region, even though they are reasonably close (compared to alot of D3 schools).

Mount Union has been the final destination (resting place) for almost all CCIW teams over the past decade.  Most of the time in the 2nd round as Mt. Union gets a bye.

CCIW teams in playoffs since 1990:
1992: IWU lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
1994: Augie lost to Albion (eventual National Champ) in 1st round
1995: Wheaton lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
1996: IWU lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
1998: Millikin lost to Wittenberg in 1st round
1999: Augie lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
2000: Millikin lost to ONU in 1st round
2001: Augie lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
2002: Wheaton lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
2003: Wheaton lost to Mount Union in Quarterfinals
2004: Wheaton lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
Carthage lost to Mount Union in Quarterfinals
2005: Augie lost to Mount Union in 2nd round
NCC lost to Capital in 1st round

CCIW would be 0-fer Mount Union if it weren't for Augustana's 2 victories against them in 1985 and 1986.

Hence the question mark, i knew someone with more knowledge than i have would come to the rescue!!   :D  Thanks Mugsy

Not since 2004 they don't. the expanded playoffs last year eliminated the bye week.

Right.  Unfortunately the result has been the same though...

Mugsy and/or Pat,

I know Mt Union is the juggernaut of the Midwest Region and the team to beat out of the this Region come playoff time.
This might be a dumb question but,  why do they ALWAYS seem to get the home game?  Is it because they are the #1 seed year in and year out?
Carthage, Augie, Wheaton, they all have to travel to Alliance.  I think it would be interesting to see how MUC would respond if THEY had to travel to our areas.

MatBlake-- My Color Analyst Chris is usually with me on most games.  He accompanied me when we did the Wheaton/Albion game first week of the year, and will accompany me for the NCAA playoffs/Basketball games.  He is married now (house arrest  ;)  ) and can't just "take off" like I can on football Saturdays or NCAA Regionals (i.e. Augie Regional last year).
Good luck to all CCIWsters in action tomorrow and let's hope the weather cooperates.
