Well, here we are the day before the first big games of the year in the conference chase.  Throw the Millikin/Carthage in there as well as the NCC/WC game in terms of importance.  I haven't said a word about a lack of respect for NCC.  They haven't earned it.  Last year's record and the coaches poll is not a way to measure respect.  Win the friggin game on Saturday if you want respect!!  This is as big a game as there has been for NCC in some time.  I think it was Mugsy who said that all the pressure is on the Cardinals.  He is 100% correct.  Here's hoping for a Cardinal victory!

I like the redmen, but seeing how well Wallick and co. ran the ball last year, I see them pulling out the win at home. He is a very hard runner and his o-line blocks well. The redmen dont have Dante back there to milk the clock with so i think millikin will dominate on the ground as well as the t-o-p. Auggie will be auggie and that spells no good for npc. Would like to see the underdog pull off the upset though. NCC will move the chains, but not enough to TKO wheaton. I thought it was a classy move for the conference to honor the kid from wesleyan who passed.

Redmen 04, you're right.  The banned posters of the IBC board had some very mean messages and are nothing compared to this board.
The last few years I wondered how things would be different if Mt. Union had to travel to IL or WI for the big game.  Most (not all)  but most teams play better at their home turfs.
As somebody allready alluded to, every game is meaningful this year in the CCIW. From top to bottom this conf. is loaded.  6 of 8 are undefeated, 7 of 8 have winning records, and most have played very difficult teams.
If things stay this way I don't see how the CCIW would be denied a second entrant.

There is a nice article in the Daily Herald-Sports Extra Section about the Kudyba brothers playing against each other this weekend.  Nice to see the CCIW getting some local press!

GO REDMEN!!!!!!!!

I'm personally tired of all the NCC is the greatest talk myself.  I want them to win this weekend.  AFTER that, they can start talking a little smack, until they ACTUALLY win the conference they have a lot to prove.  All they have proven so far is that they are better than the mediocre NCC teams I played on.

In terms of pressure, I don't think its on one side or the other.  This is arguably the biggest game of the year in the CCIW, the pressure is on both sides.  NCC has the advantage of playing at home...Wheaton has the advantage of being in this position before.

All in All, its going to be a great game....and Man do I wish I could be there.

Can someone direct me to the CCIW Pick Em board? I saw a prior post that it was under the General Discussion category, but I did not find any of the prediction sites there. There are some real tossup games this weekend, so I'd like to try my luck.

Over the past few years the CCIW football season has really become competitive. It wasn't that long ago that there was the Big 4 of Augie, IWU, Wheaton and Millikin, but only Wheaton has maintained it's dominance as NCC, Carthage, Elmhurst and even NPU have really caught up with the others.

I'd like to remind the long time posters that I predicted from day one that NCC would turn things around in a big hurry, when they hired Coach Thorne. He coached my nephew in a high school summer passing league, and he was far and away the best high school coach I've been in contact with, as evidenced by his record at WWS. I think they'll upset Wheaton tomorrow.

Never mind. I blundered around the site until I found the PickEm board.

Looks like there is a good chance I'll make the 7 mile trek to NCC tomorrow night - previous commitment was cancelled!  First time back to NCC campus since 2003 grad. school graduation - Marv Levy was commencement speaker.  However I'll be pulling for a Wheaton winner, by any score!  Looking for a great game.

no question the pressure is squarely on the shoulders of ncc. they circled this date last year when everyone said "if only we had our qb and rb we would have won". they feel they have a lot to prove and have pointed to this game as the key to their season. if they lose, rebounding will be a challenge. for wheaton, this is just another game on the road in a tight cciw race. they proved last year you can lose and still go to the playoffs. they have nothing to lose and ncc has everything to prove. a tight game favors wheaton and their experience. I will be there with bells on

Conference play begins today.  In the sporting world everything else takes a back seat.  Even the    SOX   /   YANKEES (SUCK)   doesn't matter until I can get the     REDMEN  score.   So good luck to all, (except Millikin then good luck to you next week.)
We will always be REDMEN
