[/i]. Seriously, although I'm still concerned about the porousness of their defense, it's good to see they've forced 15 turnovers in the first four games.

You know I felt the same way about Augie's D today.  It felt like they gave up a lot of yards and were able to stop NP only with the interceptions.  However, after I looked at the stats, there wasn't much yardage given up.  I think that there was less than 200 yards of total offense.  But I do think that the D-backs do tend to lay off the line a bit too much before the ball is snapped.  There were many  plays in the first half especially that if NP looked beyond the number one read, that they would have found a better option usually running a short 5 yd route.  Now it could be that Shea, Anthony, Simpson and the rest were just leaving the low man on the NP Recievers totem pole, but I've been going to too many games to know where and how Augie has been burnt before.  Now for some questions...A) what was the deal with NP's "Roll out punt formation"?  It was essentially a shotgun formation with 4 wide outs and the punter would take the ball to his left for a few punts before he punted it.  B) Does anyone know if the long snapper that popped a snap over Slette's arms on the 2nd TD conversion attempt was a 2nd stringer?  I was curious if Gelsomino, who was lost last week with the broken leg, was their normal long snapper.

Solid NCC drive on only 6 plays covering 55 yards and less than 2 minutes.  Wheaton 20, NCC 14.  Slight momentum change... NCC starting to get rolling?  We'll see.  1:34 remaining in 3rd quarter.

Momentum killer... Wheaton just returns kickoff return 60+ yards.  I mentioned earlier in the week, Wheaton's special teams would factor in this game.

Crud... underthrown pass by Chupp intercepted in endzone.

After a key long interception return (and lateral) by Grandy of Wheaton to NCC's 28 yard line, Wheaton fumbles it right back.  I'm telling ya', Wheaton has got to reduce the number of turnovers in the big games.  Man I wish I was there... sounds like a great game.

For all of you who picked Millikin over Carthage today, I am happy to say that you were WRONG!!  Carthage will also beat Augie next week.  Mark my words.

#665
50 yard TD pass to Spencer.  NCC 21 - Wheaton 20.  Turnovers, turnovers... are turning this game around.  Credit NCC for taking advantage.  Completely different game from first half.  NCC controlling the game in 2nd half, especially on defense.

10 minutes remaining in 4th quarter.

Yet ANOTHER Chupp interception, this time returned for a NCC TD.  28-20 NCC.  Turnovers are KILLING Wheaton and feeding NCC.  4 Wheaton turnovers in 2nd half alone.  Not many rivalry, "game of the year" type games are won when a team turns it over that often.

5:05 left in the game.

Character drive by Wheaton to cut it to 28-26 with 3:04 remaining in game.  Chupp recovered nicely from interception returned for TD to lead Wheaton down the field with a few key passes.

Wheaton going for 2pts...

Pass batted down on 2pt. conversion... NCC 28 - Wheaton 26.  Whoa, what a game!

How good is Wheaton's place kicker this year?

Mugsy

Onside kick?  Not sure I agree with that with over 3 minutes remaining.  NCC has ball as kick goes out of bounds and ball touched by Wheaton before going 10 yards.

How many TOs left for each team?

Mugsy

Wheaton had all 3 remaining.  NCC had 2, I believe.
