Thanks to everyone who welcomed us and treated us so well at North Central last night -- Keith and I had a great time on our trip.

Was also in Rock Island for the game yesterday and agree with Dan Sand that NPU seems no different then any of the previous years (going to be tough for them to get a win seeing the tough games that the other 6 teams played today). 6 ints/ 12 completions doesn't make anyone the best QB in the CCIW, so that comment was offbase, but most of us knew that.

I have a feeling that McDowell is resting a hamstring as one of his legs was taped right above the knee yesterday (good idea to keep him out of the game since Kuzniar was running the ball extremely well). 410 yards rushing and a stingy effort on defense makes me think that next weeks game up in Kenosha is going to be a real test for both teams. Solid win against a weak NPU team, next week Augie will not have the same luxury.

Also I was puzzled as to why NPU faked a punt in the 4th, the game was over so why not punt and just let the Augie O run the clock out.

Real quick note: McGinnis came in for the 4th Q and on his TD he showed some good vision and left one of the NPU defenders picking up his jock with a sidestep move, so Roe's backup showed that he too can play, albeit under absolutely no pressure.

Congrats to NCC on a tough comeback win, and I stand corrected on the fact that I said NCC was going to make the timely mistakes. Very uncharacteristic of Wheaton to have that happen to them, but they have a lot of outs as the conference is stacked and the chances of running the table are very small this year.

What's wrong with a little hype?  NPU certainly has little to discuss.  Besides, I never said Haehn was the best QB.  I said he was the best passer.  Did I add that he has virtually no rushing game?  The O-Line is the same as usual.  Besides being the best passer, I'd wager Haehn is the most bruised QB as well.

Hats off to NCC.  I was saying all week that in order to be one of the best you have to beat the best.  They did that!

REDMEN, nice win.  I can't say that I'm shocked.
HEY NORM, I LOST YOUR HAT! GO REDMEN!!!

Maybe they wanted to work on something like that.  If the game was over as you say, it really wouldn't matter then; and besides, working on a trick play in a game situation just might help them out in a later game.  These thoughts: theoretical, of course, but not outlandish. :)

To all the NCC faithful who voiced frustration over lack of love for NCC by the media, D3Football, etc... After beating Wheaton on Saturday, NCC vaults to #20 in the D3Football poll.  Many posters here told you so... win the big games, keep winning and you'll get more print and higher rankings.

Now you need to win a CCIW championship to get to the next level of respect.  Something you have a good chance at, but Augie, Carthage and a few other CCIW teams have a say in that.

Again, congrats on a great win on Saturday night and I look forward to taking back the bell next year. ;D

Hmmm... Gee, I wonder who took a swipe at my karma... what a stretch?  Could it be my comment about how Haehn isn't the best passer in the conference? ;D

Let me tell you guys we have some decent football here in NY,  RPI, Ithica, Cortland ect.  but I sure do miss playing in the CCIW

Elmhurst 20 IWU 15 in an exciting, game which saw IWU really make things interesting late.  Elmhurst is 4-0 for the first time since 1983.  Coincidentally, the White Sox were Conf. champs in 1983, so we will see what happens.  Especially this year in the CCIW, ANYTHING can happen.
Good battle between the Kudybas.  I heard Tom played 75% of the game with a broken noise, bruised shoulder, and no good reason to play (health wise). What a ballplayer!
Barring mistakes, you figure to be 5-0 (beating NPU) and come home to face Wheaton.  First things first, EC has to be ready to play NPU who's last CCIW win came at our expense.
Good luck to the Jays.
I am shocked that NC came from behind to win. I thought Wheaton would be just too strong.

I have to say compared to when I was playing it is quite sobering to look at the official CCIW page and see Carthage, Elmhurst, and North Central at the top.

Wow   it kind of hits you pretty hard
We will always be REDMEN

Redmen96

No offence to you Auggie , Wheaton , Millikin and IWU fellas of course.

Just got a chance to log in now to put in my two cents.  Being in Michigan, I listened to the NCC-Wheaton game online.  I thought that Pat and Keith did a great game.  Can anybody shed some light on the personal foul that was against Wheaton.  I believe it was on a 3rd down and Wheaton had just stopped North Central?

Congrats to North Central. Sounds like they capitalized on some untimely mistakes.  Thought Wheaton would go to the run more in the second half, but it is kind of hard when your offense seems to be focused on the passing game.  Congrats Cardinals, you have the Little Brass Bell.

I personally was surprised by the Carthage-Millikin score.  Seems as if the defense won the game.  Should be amazing game between Augie and Carthage.

This is shaping up to be a great year in the CCIW.  Week 2 might be a bit premature to say this, but here goes anyway. Parity might not be the best thing if you are used to going 7-0 in conference, but it sure makes things interesting for the fans.  That said, Carthage, Elmhurst, NCC, or Augie could still run the table.

Howdy,

Here are a couple more thoughts on the game Saturday night.

First,  Both teams played well at times and poorly at others.  It seemed for a while that both defenses only made stops when the o's made mistakes.

Second, Chupp didn't look consistent.  He consistantly sailed the ball long or waited to long to throw the ball.  There were several instances especially the 2 point conversion where he had recievers open, saw them but just waited a half second to long to throw the ball.  It also seemed his timing routs were a bit off as well.  With all that said I still think he is a good qb, but still needs some improvement.

The NCC offense at times looked completely unstopable, they have a nice look to them, with a spread offense and quick three to five step drops with quick crossing patterns, which makes it hard for a D to get pressure on the QB.

As per the Onside kick attempt:  I actually agree with the call they made.  First, it gives you an opportunity to get the ball back without the other team touching the ball.  Second, with NCC getting the ball with the short field it allows them to score quicker (in this case had Wheaton kicked it deep, NCC would have been able to run the clock out with out Wheaton getting the ball back).  It is always a tough call to make, but had Wheaton recovered the ball, no one would be questioning the decision.

I hope I didn't rehash to much, but it was a frustrating football weekend for me ( I am a huge Vikings fan as well).

Just my two cents.
