for carthage I hear about all their injuries but the participation report and stats have almost the same lineup vs wheaton as they had at the beginning of the year. obviously O'Boyle didn't play but on defense their lineup has been consistent except for 1 safety and on offense the OLine has been intact the whole year. the only other sub on offense has been the fullback. not sure what all the injury talk has been about. maybe I am missing something.

Interesting... I have no perspective to confirm or deny, other than I knew about O'Boyle and the FB.  Regardless a dominate effort by Wheaton yesterday.

They need to continue to build next week towards the playoffs - no let downs.

From Gordon on the Daily Dose, here are the 1 Loss teams that remain and who they play this week.

Capital: Baldwin Wallace (6-2, 5-2 OAC)
Cortland: Ithaca (7-2, 4-2 E8)
Franklin: Hanover (4-5, 4-2 HCAC)
Hardin-Simmons: McMurry (2-5, 3-6 ASC)
Hobart: Rochester (7-2, 4-1)
St. John Fisher: Alfred (7-2, 4-1)
UW-Lax: UW-Oshkosh (5-4, 3-3 WIAC)
Wartburg: Dubuque (5-4, 4-3 IIAC)
Wheaton (Ill.): Illinois Wesleyan (3-6, 2-4 CCIW)

there are 9 or 10 teams for 7 spots (if bethel wins this week vs st johns, the johnnies are in this pool. if not bethel is out w a 2nd loss). It is easy to see how some of these teams could lose and a 2 loss team make it in. I think if BW beats cap they are in and wheaton will host a home game (btw, i am not sure wheaton may not host a home game anyway if they move a team out of our region.

Are you sure that BW gets in if they beat Cap? The top three teams look set (MUC, MSJ, CUW) and the bottom three (NCC, Wabash or Wittenberg, Hope), leaving two spots. Cap is the highest ranked team among the others, then Wheaton, Franklin, and BW. Any possibility if BW beats Cap that Franklin and Wheaton are selected? Are does a BW win over Cap vault them over Franklin? Could we see just OAC in the playoffs. What a shocker that would be.

Rick, do you tailgate for Basketball games too?  :P  If so, you know who to call as your favorite Elmhurst/Carthage backer.  ;D

To be honest..... I have yet to attend a CCIW basketball game but that is subject to change.

Check out the story in today's Pantagraph-
www.pantagraph.com, on the NCC-IWU game.  What is Dunlop thinking? ???
It's the same Wesleyan attitude. They always think they're better. It's certainly no easy game for the Cardinals, but they've proven they can beat Wesleyan on the road and this is a more meaningful game for North Central than IWU.
Cardinal Skip

How true Cardinal Skip. I believe last year, Wesleyan's head coach, Norm Eash, was quoted saying in a Bloomington newspaper that NCC has never beaten them( NCC won the last three years). He said they beat themselves. I wonder if Coach Eash thinks they were BEATEN today? Or, did they beat themselves? hmmmmmmm!!!!!!! I wonder!

He can say whatever he wants. Four consecutive losses speak for themselves—yesterday's by far the most one-sided of the losses. It's always nice to see IWU struggle.

the teams are not picked exclusively by region. if there are 10 teams from 1 region that deserve to get in the committee will move some to make it work. the teams i list as 1 loss teams are the ones eligible for the 7 pool c slots. they are not geographically specific and don't need to be.

Another sack for Studebaker... 14.5 for the season.

And unfortunately he got it early on in the game by bull-rushing threw my boy (LT, Glassman) who got his foot work a little messed up. That really ticked him off and inspired him to step up his game. Call it biased, but Glassman kept Studabaker in check the rest of the game and played real well. Studabacker was in on only one other tackle which was possible by a crossing stunt at the line and Glassman's blocking assignment had him picking up the D- tackle. Studabaker is a real good athlete and appears bulked up from last season. As a parent I was real proud of the job my son did against an apparent All-American.

Mugsy, you called it correctly, Studabaker lined up on the defensive right end and stayed there all but one play that I can recall. Strange as it may be, my son was real happy about that, because he was looking forward to the challenge of facing the best D-end in the conference.

Will O'Boyle play this week or is he done?  Obviously, beating Carthage has to be first on the list, but I have a really bad feeling about Augie going down to Decatur. :(  Augie could still get a piece of the championship, so they have something to play for, but it wouldn't shock me if the Blue knocked them off.

Great victory for the Cards yesterday.  After the 1st quarter, the game was a blowout.  Most of the starters were pulled halfway through the 3rd quarter.   Dunlop opening his mouth was just what the Cards needed for a little boost after such an emotional win last week.

I heard Dunlop say he was better than all of wheaton!! in fact his quote was, "I pity the fools, they don't know whats coming this week. there won't be any playoffs for those chumps after I get done with them. You can quote me on that!! We are a better team than them!"

I heard him say that. really!! :o ::)
