It is amazing how things get done at the D-3 level a year to late. CUW has been a strong team in the Illni-Badger for some time now, and a home play-off game seems to be in reach each season. Prehaps some proactive thinking would bring  the necessary changes, which would in turn, offer a more attractable facility for future student athletes. It is hard enough for private WI colleges to compete against the WIAC schools with tuition prices, they should at least be on the same level facility wise.

They are when it comes to weight rooms and training rooms  CUW has some of the best in WI.  They are the only other place to have a Swim-X  besides the Green bay Packers.  It allows people with lower body injuries to exercise in a low impact environment while being observed from beneath.  The field itself is good when taken  care of, it is just the press box that is below par.  The other facilities are amazing.

I agree some foresite is needed but it isn't always in the funds.  It is now and thats why there are plans to have a great field and box next year.  Unfortunately a year too late.

Talking with some of the parent's on Sunday, there is a bad buzz going around about the Offensive playcalling.  Without naming any names/ideas the overall theme is that Elmhurst offensive coaches  is too conservative and not willing to gamble.

jaybird...what am I missing here? "Without naming any names" How many coaches do you have calling plays at Elmhurst? Unless I'm interpeting that statement incorrectly, your comment has to be singling out the OC for Elmhurst - doesn't it?

Irish,

We're not naming Henry Stanford's name.-ooops.  :-X

Sorry, Jaybird, I couldn't resist!  ;)

I have not heard anything about the pressbox  (or lack there of) up at Concordia-WI.  I would hope that they looked at Carthage's inability that year and upgraded their facilities.  That would be shameful if CUW doesn't get to host because of inclement and/or insuffient resources in their pressbox.  That would be a case of not learning from your neighbor's mistakes.
Now that the "vultures" have cut open the prey  >:( :o  I will say this.  Coach Stanford is a good man, with a good heart, but I (and many fellow parents/alumni) are frustrated with his choice of plays.   The overall theme is too predictable and too conservative.  If we stick with this,  the gap between the Wheatons/Augies  and us  gets larger.

JB...sorry my friend, but I believe the vultures (you/parents/alumni) cut open the prey and started circling overhead lonnnng before Alum and I asked and answered the question.

You are the voice of the Blujays and you're calling out you're own OC in public.

Sorry but your Bluejay beak turned into a vulture beak long before we hopped anywhere near the carcass you left lying in the ditch!!

1980 (so very early 80's)

Ok

I haven't seen a beatin' like that since somebody stuck a banana in my pants and turned a monkey loose.

That is several shades of wrong

Irish21--  MB good to hear from you.  How have you been?  Hey I see Fremd HS is playing York HS this weekend.  I would love to see this game, except I think I am going to my Prospect /Rolling Meadows game.
You're right about the carcass thing.  I just know that the Bluejay Backers have a "built up" frustration with some parts of the program.
Well, 7 wins is passed, but a 6-4 season is still better than 500.  If the Jays can get to 6-4 that would be 6-4 3 of the last 4 seasons.  We haven't had two 6 win seasons in a row since 1984-1985  and haven't had 3 out of 4 6+ win seasons since 1983-1985.  The point here being that the program is improving but not quite the speed I would love to see it go at.

CUW press box problem:

this is the first I have heard of it as well. carthage fans, does anyone remember where carthage was ranked and if it affected the seedings? i recall they were a higher seed. I think they still got the same draw but the "visiting" team got to host. is this correct? If so, big boost for ncc who may get to host again. if not, wheaton moves up and is the host.

Pat, do you know if there is a press box issue for CUW and how it might be handled?

Hey Hey, North Central is one win away from ending a 46 year drought and winning the CCIW.  Is Jesse Vail still alive?  And if so, does anybody know if he is going to be in attendance for next Saturday's game?
1946   Herb Heilman
1947  the same
1960  Jesse Vail

Jaybird,

Jesse Vail is not alive.  He will not be in attendance.

I just went back and reviewed the 2004 playoffs. it looks to me as though carthage was the 3 seed and had to travel to Alma, the 6th seed because of the pressbox issue. i believe the 2004 seeds were

1. MUC bye
2. Wooster
3 carthage
4. wheaton
5. msj
6. alma
7. aurora

aurora played at wooster
carthage played at alma
msj played at wheaton

so this year (if in fact cuw has a press box issue) it would be

hope @MUC
witt @ msj
cuw @ ncc
wheaton @capital

Boy, if that is the case you weren't kidding when you said that it was better to be the 6 or 7 seed instead of the 4 or 5.

Brother Maynard: It reads, "Here may be found the last words of Joseph of Aramathia. He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the holy grail in the Castle of Aaauuuggghhh..."
King Arthur: What?
Brother Maynard: "The Castle of Aaaauuuggghhhh"
Sir Bedevere: What is that?
Brother Maynard: He must have died while carving it.
King Arthur: Oh come on!
Brother Maynard: Well, that's what it says.
King Arthur: Look, if he was dying, he wouldn't have bothered to carve 'Aaaauuuggghhhh'. He'd just say it.
Sir Galahad: Maybe he was dictating it.
