CUW had a great year in the IBC, but we're waiting to see if an IBC team can win a playoff game. If they can, the IBC champ will get more respect next year. A little more respect.

I believe the IBC conference is breaking up and the teams are spitting into two conferences with some other schools.

Sorry guys... I fat fingered the poll before I could enter all the candidates.  I'm trying to fix it right now.

Welcome Wheatie newbie!

Welcome to another fellow Wheaton poster.  "Wheatie"... ?  ARRGGHHHH!  I dislike that term.

What?  You don't like being referred to as a type of breakfast cereal?  I'm eating some Wheaties right now and they're delicious, just like the new regional rankings.

It beats Fruit Loops!!   ;D

Mugsy,

I agree that Kniss is a lock for OPOY.  Don't you think that Stuedebaker is every bit the lock as DPOY?  And while I'm at it, if the Cards win tomorrow, Thorne should be Coach of the year!   8)

He's definitely a top candidate, but not necessarily a lock.  Besides if I said he was a lock, then we'd have to endure ncc_cardinal_fan appearing saying how he is nothing but the pass rush, etc...

There are some other players from the top teams that have had great years.  Tim Bellazzini from NCC, Pete Ittersagen from Wheaton, Joe Youndbauer from Augie.   I'm going off overall stats, so there may be others I'm not listing.

Other players with good seasons, Brandon Fox from Carthage, Ward Brady from Elmhurst, and Mike Mastro of IWU.

Well, I'm starting a write in campaign for Stuedebaker since he isn't a choice!  :P   ;)

Once I can get the poll cleared, I'll enter a new one... correctly this time!   :-\

OPOY  is there even a second choice?  (Kniss)
DPOY  Studebaker who I have heard from a significant source is going to be honored as an All-American
COY   Swider

Somebody mentioned the BCS while talking about the UL/Rutgers game.  Without getting on my "soapbox", I can tell you I have my own acronym for BCS-  Biggest Crock of S***  How can you let a CPU and/or Poll decide your Nat'l Champ?  I think the best thing Division I could do is to have end of the season playoffs  like I-AA, II, and III.  I know this will never happed because of the $$ invested in the Bowls and other areas.  My feeling is, let the kids decide who's best on the field.

Big win for Rutgers and shows you what the "heart" can do.  The Knights fought hard and overcame their deficit ending UL's chance at a Nat'l Title.

Just curious as to your reasoning for Swider over Thorne?  The "jaybird hates the Cardinals" thing is going to start up again!  :P

Mike Swider continues to win CCIW Championships consistently.  He has guided Wheaton to CCIW Titles in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and most likely 2006... how can you not honor a guy that has established a consistent winner?

I guess my reasoning would be that Thorne will (hopefully) guide NCC to a share of their first conference title in almost 50 years after having lost some great players from last year!

I don't think you could go wrong with honoring either man, considering in all likelihood, both of their teams are going to win the CCIW.

There was the item in yesterday's Chicago SunTimes that this is the 6th straight year that Augie has gone into the last week with a chance to win or tie for the conference title. Which is more consistent?
