Somebody mentioned the BCS while talking about the UL/Rutgers game.  Without getting on my "soapbox", I can tell you I have my own acronym for BCS-  Biggest Crock of S***  How can you let a CPU and/or Poll decide your Nat'l Champ?  I think the best thing Division I could do is to have end of the season playoffs  like I-AA, II,

I heard a discussion earlier today that some voters may knock Texas down a couple spots in the final poll becuase they don't want an Ohio State - Texas rematch. You can't trust the voters either ...

Here's a thought.  If Carthage should win tomorrow, Rucks is another potential COY candidate.  With the injuries and everything else, his season would be as good as anyone's with a win tomorrow.

Does anyone think Carthage has a chance this weekend? And O'Boyle is out for this game right?

As for the BCS, it sucks. D-1 says that the reason they don't want a playoff system is because the athelets would be missing to much class. However, the NCAA allows D-1AA, D-2, and D-3 have a playoff system. Aren't we all a part of the NCAA? I guess they really don't care about the school work of the athletes in the other divisions. I know it's all about the money in D-1 but this BCS needs to go.

Yes, O'Boyle is out.  Tailgater said that he blew out his MCL.  I think it will be tough for Carthage, but you never know.

But it's ok for the D-1 teams to play every night of the week.  I'm sure those teams that play on Thursdays don't miss any class!  ::)

Anything for national television I guess!

There was the item in yesterday's Chicago SunTimes that this is the 6th straight year that Augie has gone into the last week with a chance to win or tie for the conference title. Which is more consistent?

The key part to the phrase is "with a chance".  Of those 6 chances how many resulted in actual conference champs?   2 of 6... not bad really.  But not as good as 4 of 6.

Wow... looks so far like it is a runaway for DPOY as well.  I thought there might be a variety of other opinions.

Bellazzini is leader for current CCIW AQ and leads conference in INT's, plus he has had to step it up big time due to graduation losses.

Fox has been a stud for Carthage for several years now and was a preseason candidate for this honor.

Scardullo has nice stats, but more importantly has been a multiple DPOW winner.  Only other player with similar honor is Andy Studebaker.

An argument could be made that Ittersagen has been just a valuable to Wheaton as Studebaker.

Honestly I don't know much about Youngbauer, but Augie is inline to be CCIW co-champ and it is primarily because of their defense, so "Shirley" someone on the defensive unit is a candidate?

Bellazini has had a great year as the leader of the Cardinal defense.  He has provided solid play all year.  You can see the difference he makes on the field.  I just don't see that the coaches would give the major award to another Cardinal when Kam will win the OPOY and Thorne COULD win the COY award, especially when it COULD be a three way shared conference title.

Wasn't me.  I voted for Studebaker.  I put my money on FormerCard!  :P

Hi all, I have been out of town since Sat. And just caught up on all the posts. What a disapointing weekend in Elmhurst. I give a lot of credit to Milikin, There kids never gave up. I was stunned at the end of the game. the key IMO were the the 2 roughing the punter pealties that Elmhurst comitted plus the roughing the passer on 3rd down that turned out to be incomplete and would have forced a punt( although we probably would have roughed the punter again). That's 3 possesions. I can't blame the offensive play calling for that. I do feel they should have kicked the fieldgoal at the end of the game. Millikin ended up scoring a toachdown anyway but I think it is harder mentally knowing you have to score a t.d instead of just getting in fieldgoal range. If my memmory serves me correctly I have missed 2 games and have still seen 5 roughing the punter penalties. That hurts.

I got two - karma pts for giving props to Rutgers?  Some people are more than happy when they give + karma and tell you why, but when you get zapped its a big secret.  Thats a stand up move.
We will always be REDMEN

If you give Karma + or - step up to the plate and don't hide.

I thought the Rutgers game was awsome! That's why I love college football. The Rutgers fans looked like they just won the National Championship.
