Comet14-  I talked to Tom Journell (our usual Friday pre-game taped interview) and going for it instead of kicking the FG was Coach Journell's gamble.  He wanted to keep his offense on the field and keep the momentum going. 
I don't blame this move for the loss last week.  I give all the credit to Albin, Wallick, and Millikin's offense for executing the 2 minute Drill. (In this case, 1 minute drill)
As long as Elmhurst takes care of business Saturday they will finish 6-4 and 3-4 in the CCIW.  6-4 is good, but if you were to ask me back in Augus,  how many wins will EC get in 2006, I would have said 7-8.  That's why they play the game(s) and that is why the CCIW is touted as the Best Small College Conference in the nation.

Just an FYI,  the Elmhurst vs. North Park Game can be heard on the radio at WRSE 88.7 FM  or on the Internet at http://www.wrse.com 
Since we are playing North Park and many of their students/parents live in the City of Chicago I would suggest tuning into the Internet to hear the game.  88.7 FM in Chicago is Loyola's Station and you won't get the game (in the city) on that frequency.

Thorne wins, I think, if the Cardinals win on Saturday and take the automatic qualifier. I think that puts him over the top just ahead of Swider and Barnes.

I say Thorne for COY for 2 reasons.

1.  Getting the Cards O back on track after losing so much talent...and

2.  Rallying a 2 loss team and pulling off the huge and somewhat improbable 28-0 victory over Augie, when they knew they had to win by 21 points.  That might be the biggest win in Cardinal football history.

Swider a close 2nd...although i would have no argument if he won.  What a tremendous job he and his staff do on a yearly basis.

With all that said.....GO CARDS!  Get that first conference title since WWII.

First NC title since WWII??? You weren't a History Major were you?  
NC last won the CCIW in 1960  and they are looking to break 46 years since their last title.  You are right that during WWII 1945 on   (1946-1947)  NC won the first 2 CCIW Titles.

Yikes...I stand corrected.  I forgot about the 1960 title.  I was thinking the last time was when the Cards were in the Corn Bowl in the 40's.

Many people forget that 1960, under the direction of the late Jesse Vail,  the Cardinals won the CCIW which ended Wheaton's Dynasty of the 50's.  (1950-1959 Harve Chrouser HC)

To this I did not realize and ignorance in this circumstance is no excuse for my violation of the rules.  I accept my punishment and I am sorry for posting twice.  Since I will still never be giving or taking Karma points due to my consciences objection I will have to fight out my arguments with words and ideas.  Deconstructing thought processes, questions, relative vs. absolute ideas etc.  I would also ask the question, as did another poster why would you make sure you get credit when giving Karma points and not own giving them.  What does that say about you as a person only that you don't, wont or cant back up your ideas and criticisms?  Would you punish your child and not tell him why?  That's insane. 
They can't win arguments they just have stigmas given to them.  Such as this is a bad person.  Does someone with 40pts feel good about himself or herself?  Yet the negative side of this is that it carries great power that is virtually unchecked.  Versus words and ideas that are owned and known for criticism.  If it's a checks and balances to be earned why do some give it to their buddy when their friend gets some taken away or for nothing.  That's a deconstruction of the idea and only leads to the plot lines of LOTF.  Pick on the weak, survival of the fittest.  I don't want to tell anybody what to do.  Just to think of what there doing and think before you jump on the dog pile.  D3 has a good set of rules yet we establish our own micro set of rules inside those to be used appropriately or abused.  Those with the most power set the rules that others will inevitably follow.  That's how natural man works theirs nothing new under the sun.  Remember if someone is nasty and you K pound on him they only get angrier until we complain about them.  Try being nice it will eventually work. The communication you give out is the type we naturally give back.  Try purposely giving your first and last name next time you meet a stranger and see if they don't give their first and last name back.

The point of 'karma' on this board is to 'civilize' posters.  If you fit the self-established norms of a particular board, you will almost certainly end up in positive territory; if you violate them, you will go negative.  It is FAR from a perfect system, but I think it mostly works.

I was once in negative double digits; I'm now (give or take) at +40 (out of curiosity, did you choose the number +40 because I'm the one who first called you out on what I consider a highly offensive post?).

I'm also curious, what name did you use to get busted on rule #2?

Since I still think you could be a valuable member of this board (IF you start accepting the NORMS of the board), I'm giving you +k, even if you don't care about that 'heathen' karma!
