Sorry usee, but I'm not sure how labeling such a generic coaching line as "classic Norm" could have been taken any other way other than 'there's arrogant Norm spouting his mouth off again."
You said it not me.

You accused me of "ripping" Norm and there is no way you can interpret what i said as ripping anybody. I have met Norm a couple times but definately do not "know" him. but find me 1 person who does know him that doesn't think he is in fact pretty arrogant. that's no crime because he has plenty of company among head coaches.

If the posters on the football board aren't making personal attacks just because they don't like the 'weenies', why did my karma get whacked from +7 to -7 once I started posting on the fb board

I hope you don't really think Karma is a personal attack. I don't give negative karma only positive. In fact, I'll give you +K here for speaking your mind.

my ego is firmly in check regardless of my "score" on this board.

that's pretty clear.

btw, I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt here. I am the one who posts all the head coaches comments/quotes if I see them. I have done so several times this season.  I happened to post a quote from coach eash right before his team plays wheaton. I did the same for coach rucks.

Since you opened the topic let me ask you or any of the other titanbackers a question: Is Norm on the hotseat? I can't imagine 3 losing seasons in a row sits well in greentown. they have come to expect much more out of their sports programs.

I was late getting out to the IWU/wheaton game and heard it was already 21-0 so I went to Naperville and caught the NCC/Carthage game. Carthage defense looked really good. I have no idea what happened last week vs wheaton.

the only comment I would make is the late hit call on ncc's last drive looked really questionable. I didn't have a great look since I was sitting on the Carthage side but Kniss ran for a first down on 3rd and 9, got upended and another carthage defender who was coming to make the play looked to be avoiding the play when kniss flipped over the defender and the carthage defender landed on him after he hit out of bounds.

that was a huge play.

Interesting game at North Park this afternoon.  Elmhurst jumped out to the 21-0 lead and led 21-7 at the half.  No scoring in the 3rd quarter, and the final was 24-7.  There were some big time hits in the game for both sides.  Ditka, Butkus, would have loved this game as Scardullo, Brady, Ambriz, Decatur, and Avery had some big hits that you could "feel" from the booth.
Well, 6-4 is good, but I certainly thought we would have eclipsed 7 or 8 wins this year.  Well, I guess that is one goal that the underclassmen will work to achieve for 2007.  The Class of 2006 will walk out of EC with more wins since the Class of 1985.  (22/26 wins)
I was impressed with North Park's heart and defense in that 3rd quarter.

Bittersweet day for me.  My cards win teh CCIW for the first time in 46 yrs......and my Cary Grove Trojans miss a last second fg and lose to Batavia 15-14 in the 6a quarters.

Congrats again to the Cards on a huge win.  Have a beer for me.  Just don't get arrested doing anything stupid.

Sounds like the game was close in Naperville. Congrats to NCC.

Wow very suprising to see Cary Grove go down in the 6A playoffs today. They were a favorite to win it all!

Congratulations to NCC and Wheaton.   Let's see - does Augie deserve to share in the congrats?  NAW!!!!!

Now you all can see what happens with delusional coaching!!!  But gosh, they can say the co-won the conference  :o  :o  :o

The time is now for Coach Barnes to make a change to get Augie back to being great, or keep things as is and let Augie be an also ran.

Down with JohnsEn and the entire offensive coaching staff!!!!

A lot of interesting things happened in D3 today. St John's loses, wartburg loses (knocking them from pool C) and MSJ loses. from what I have seen I think you replace Wartburg w St Johns as a pool C and there are 9 one loss teams for 7 spots. Wheaton is tops of those in QOWI and will have beaten 2 of the 8 teams in the north region already. I see no way they don't get in. The North region didn't change any teams out but moved the order a bit. I see 2 scenarios. the simplest and most likely is

MUC
Capital
CUW
Wheaton
MSJ
NCC
Witt
Hope

Hope @MUC
Witt @Cap (rematch)
NCC @ CUW (rematch-pressbox could make this an NCC home game)
MSJ @ Wheaton

a second scenario:

I think there is an arguement to make wheaton the #3 seed. the committee clearly thinks the OAC is stronger than either the IBC or the HCAC since they moved capital past CUW last week. with MSJ losing I could see the committee moving wheaton to the #3 seed and actually making NCC a #5 seed. Itreally depends on how far they will drop MSJ. History suggests MSJ will pay a huge price for losing to an unranked team. the committee now has a reason to move MSJ with such a low QOWI and they will. Could look like this:

MUC
Cap
Wheaton
CUW
NCC
MSJ
Witt
Hope

Hope @MUC
Witt@Cap (rematch)
MSJ @ Wheaton
NCC@ CUW (rematch)

the only effect this seeding has is the second round. it puts wheaton and cap on opposite sides of the bracket from MUC.

other more remote scenarios include moving capital out of region and a west team in, dropping msj to a 7 or 8 seed, and cancelling the playoffs altogether.

I have no idea

Congrats to North Central on the chip! (even if it is only a share)

I'm sure the guys would LOVE to see CUW again. A couple players told me a few weeks ago that they felt they would have been undefeated had they played a scrimmage in the preseason. That CUW loss really left a bad taste in their mouths.

Let's go CARDS!
You win! You always do!

I don't think CUW was their only loss. I also don't think a scrimmage would have helped them go undefeated.

We all know Kniss has been one heck of a player for 4 years, but has Studebaker been such a standout?  Does anyone (Mugsy, usee) have his stats over the past four years?  I'm curious to see if he has been a standout for a long time or if this was a breakout year.

Congrats to those seniors finishing up four years of football and college!!  Go have fun and best of luck in the future.

I don't have time to compile any stats for Studebaker as I'm on my mother-in-laws computer in Boston.  My time is limited.  Just want to point out Studebaker is only a junior... he has another year!  Scary! :o

7 tackles today including 2 sacks and a total of 4 tackles for loss. on one of his sacks he was unblocked by the offensive tackle. I don't understand how that can happen but it did.

Titanwatcher

I saw the game today in Wheaton and Studebaker is the real deal. great first step, and real nose for the ball. IWU tackles did not know what do with him, even with help from the TE.
With ordinary talents and extraordinary perseverance, all things are attainable.

congratulations to Ncc and augie for being co champs with wheaton. I guess there should be some question over a trophy presentation for NCC and none for the wheaton and augie. but we'll save that for another day.

I didn't think you'd like that ;D which is why I had to post it. I guess if the CCIW feels that NCC deserves the trophy, that's good enough for me. ;D ;D
