Be careful what you ask for. Ohio plays some pretty good football and we haven't fared too well over there recently

I know.  I certainly don't say that out of disrespect for the Ohio teams and I fully realize what we are up against, it was simply an attempt to promote CCIW fan unity and incite a passionate response toward a common cause.

Besides, we're going to have to go through them eventually anyway, so why not be excited about the opportunity to get a chance to prove yourself against the best there is.  After all, in order to be the best you have to beat the best.

Nothing surprising there.  Exactly what we thought.

Pat says Capital vs. Mt. Union, also no surprise, but we'll see.

A good challenge for Wheaton's offense, as MSJ has played some pretty tough defense over the past few seasons.  I like the way Wheaton has really picked up their play on both sides of the ball since the Augie loss.  A great statement of the teams character.  I think they are really deserving of hosting the first round game.

Congrats to both NCC and Wheaton for making the playoffs, and to Augie for battling to a co-CCIW champion season.  I honestly have much higher expectations  for Wheaton than I did 4 weeks ago.  They have really played solidly on both sides of the ball.  This is the best Wheaton defense in some time, so that could make a huge difference in the playoffs.

First things first, they need to take care of the upstart MSJ team.  I know Swider & Co. won't let them look ahead at all, because all playoff teams are there for a reason and all are dangerous.  Sounds like the MSJ team this year is tougher than the one that Wheaton played a few years ago - they also have playoff experience now.

Exciting times...

fyi... for those interested, I will setup a D3 Playoff's Pick-Em's like last year over on the CCIW Pick-Em's board.  It will use similar rules as the regular season - confidence picks.

Thanks again to all who participated and hopefully it was enjoyable and interesting (with the wildcard picks).  As always, drop me an email if you have suggestions on how to make it better (as the CCIW schedule started, we dropped about 35% of the participants).

I couldn't agree with you more.  Wheaton has looked like a different team the past three weeks.  I was a little disappointed with the defense in the second half yesterday, but the offense has looked great the past two weeks.  I was frustrated early in the season by the Millikin and Augie games and back then I would have thought the Thunder would be one and done for sure, but now I'm beginning to believe the impossible might be possible.  With that defense, if the Wheaton offense doesn't turn the ball over, I fully believe that they can play with anybody.  But like you said Mugsy, one week at a time, and right now its MSJ.

Now what do we do to pass the time for the next six days?

New-style turf. Seats 1700.

Understanding  Wisc Lutheran facilities has capacity for 1700--Anyone have any input regarding the vistors stands ie # of rows, height of stands over players on side lines, etc?  Any guidance would be appreciated

Brass Bell,

I took a look at the Wisconsin Lutheran website and there doesn't appear to be very large visitors stands there.

It will be very interesting to see what MSJ does in terms of offense this week.  They have a great RB who gets tough yards,  but nothing to speak of in the passing game....completed one pass yesterday in the Bridge Bowl.

Their defense has been tough, but they'll have to create turnovers to have a chance.

Agreed, if MSJ's defense doesn't force turnovers, this will be a long day.
