Want to talk about good hunters-- Bears, Sharks, Hawks
Good leapers-- Leopards, Jaguars, Panthers (virtually most cats except Lions)  Wolves
The 2 animals that if I see, would get really SCARED... Grizzly Bear and Shark!
2 quickies since we are talking about Animals.
A) Where is the safest place during a Tornado?
B) Baby Bear (3 Bears) is in court and the judge says, "Baby Bear, do you want to live with Mama Bear?"  No you honor, "Mama Bear Beats me!"  The Judge asks the Bear the same thing only (insert) Papa Bear.  "No Papa Bear beats me!"
Well, you have to live somewhere Baby Bear."
Your honor, I want to live in Chicago!
"Why?"
Because, those Bears don't BEAT anybody!"   :P ;D
Safest place in a Tornado?  Soldier's Field,  there's no Touchdown!
As a DIE HARD BEARS FAN, I am happy this joke doesn't apply to the 2006 Bears.

One more point I want to make about last Saturday:

I want to make sure I congratulate the Cardinal for their achievment as co champion after a 40+ year dry spell. what coach Thorne has done is imporessive with back to back playoff appearances. Having said that I think it was a complete travesty to honor NCC with a CCIW trophy in Naperville on Saturday and not to have a conference rep in Wheaton and probably Decatur too. There is no justification for that. And if someone says its because NCC won the AQ I might throw up. There is no arguement for NCC being better or more deserving of the CCIW title than Wheaton. Not having a trophy presentation in both places is a joke.

I agree.  Maybe its because the CCIW is headquartered in Naperville?

Stuedemann will be named as the TE not WR, just like last season. Perhaps one of the linebackers as well. The NCC linebackers were hard to rate this year, following in the steps of Radke but all were very good. Looking at the performance of the NCC defense over the season with the exception being the Wheaton game, the defense will have more than just Bellazini being recognized.

When did studeman ever line up at TE? He is a WR.

Keep in mind this is the projections for 1st team. There are 2nd team players as well. I think NCC getting more than 2 defensive players on the 1st team is a remote chance.

My freshman year we had a WR (Jeremy Gudauskas..... sorry if i butchered your name, who by the way is one of the all time greatest guys i've ever played with) who was a WR, but i believe was selected all conference as TE.  So i don't think its unprecedented.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong on him being selected as a TE.

I am sure many of you can tell who I am just by my name (Glassman #66 Carthage) alone but I have been a long time reader and now a first time poster on the board. I just wanted to thank all of you for you insightful posts and support for all of us players and coaches over my 4 year career at Carthage. I am looking forward to contributing to the board in the following years in a positive way, but for now I will keep my posts to a minimum.

Congrats to all the Seniors in the CCIW as well as the Conference Champs of Wheaton, NCC and Augie. Also good luck to NCC and Wheaton this week and I know they will represent the CCIW well.

Hey buddy,

Nice to see you on the board. Congrats on a great career at Carthage. It was great playing with you and you will be a great addition to this board.
It's REDMEN not RED MEN

RedmenFB44,

Thanks, it sure was great blocking with you and for you in 2004, I will do my best on the board. I havent been asked anything I couldnt answer yet. I believe the All-Conference meeting is at 8am tomorrow, I am not possitive about the time, but I know its tomorrow sometime. I also saw Dante Washington today, I havent seen him all season.

79 Jaybird,

I recieved your email today, but have been busy with classes, executive meetings and various football items, I will email you back tomorrow and let you know.

Tailgater,
Wheaton game sounds good for saturday, I would like to see Studebaker handle a couple more offensive tackles (and not at my expense).

CardinalAlum

SOT,

Milwaukee is a lot closer to Carthage than Wheaton!  :)

Also, I'm not sure how the politicing goes, but Matt Denny from Carthage should have been 1st team Kicker last year as he was statistically the best kicker in the conference. I recall Coach Rucks fuming about not being able to get him a first team placement. I guess we'll soon find out how it is sorted out.

Tailgater,

Here are last year's kicking statistics.  I don't see that Denny was a better kicker statistically than Day.  Plus, Day was a senior and that usually helps a little.  If I remember correctly, Day was a stud kicking the ball off as well.

SCORING (KICK)     Team Cl  G   PATs    FGs   Pts Pts/G
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Day, Andrew.... WHEA SR 10  36-36   10-13   66   6.6
2. Denny, Matt.... CART SO 10  25-26   12-18   61   6.1

FIELD GOALS        Team Cl  G   FG  FGA  Pct.  FG/G
---------------------------------------------------
1. Denny, Matt.... CART SO 10   12   18  66.7  1.20
2. Day, Andrew.... WHEA SR 10   10   13  76.9  1.00

PAT KICKING PCT    Team Cl  G Made  Att   Pct.
----------------------------------------------
1. Day, Andrew.... WHEA SR 10   36   36  100.0
2. Denny, Matt.... CART SO 10   25   26   96.2

CardinalAlum:

Took me awhile to figure out how to respond to this information, but with a little assistance from a well informed Carthage parent I have something for you to ponder. Tomorrow is selection for All- Conference. The stats you list above include the conference games as well as the 3 non-conference games in 2005. I'll let you do the math, but when you knock out the non-conference games you'll find that indeed Matt Denny was the best kicker statistically in the CCIW last season, including kick-offs, but only received second team recognition.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but how you perform against non-conference opponents shouldn't have anything to do with selection to an All-Conference team. None of those 3 non-conference teams have any say in the matter. Regardless Denny has been a consistant performer for Carthage for 3 straight years. If you use the argument that last year the senior got the nod over the sophomore, than the junior (Denny) should get the knod over any underclassman this year regardless of stats. I don't think it works that way. Regardless I think Denny has proven the be the best kicker in the conference over the long haul with his consistancy.

Pat Coleman

I can't say I agree. While you might want to give more weight to conference games, you can't really ignore non-conference games altogether when evaluating a player.

Otherwise it's the "CCIW All-Conference-Game Team." :)

You need to be a member of the conference to be eligible, right?

More good information concerning why Carthage traveled for the playoffs in 2004 while CUW has an opportunity to play near home due to inadequate press-boxes. After a 3-7 season in 2003 who at Carthage would have thought it necessary to file for hosting at an alternate playoff sight? When it became apparent that the possibility existed that they would make the playoffs Carthage did file, but late and were denied. Here is my assumption. Coach Adam Walker, now at CUW, was at Carthage in 2004. He may have had the foresight to see the possibility of the same circumstances happen to CUW so informed the Athletic Director to get the filings in the work early enough to be approved. Just an assumption, but that would sure answer the question.
