Not to step into what is probably a CCIW board internal matter, but I would find it odd if you guys chose to measure in-CCIW dominance by what happens in the postseason.

If I know Coach Rucks, he would have nominated Brandon.  He has so much faith and love for his players... I am sure that it wasn't Coach Rucks as to why Fox was left off.
The only explanation I can think of is that there are many linebackers in the CCIW and only so many AC spots.

Then you don't know him. I have a strong feeling there is more to this story than we know. I can assure you that if coach rucks nominated fox, he would have been voted at least 2nd team. that is a fact. IF you DO know coach Rucks, go ask him.

Brandon was forced to switch positions(injuries) for certain games playing safety or corner against several teams, would that take him away from all conference at linebacker?

Congrats to the all conference selections.  Just looking at the CCIW website and saw back in 2003 that there were 2 coaches of the year.  Kind of surprised me that there wasn't 2 or 3 coaches of the year this year.  Checked in the football guide and couldn't find any specific prohibition to this practice, outside of this generic language:

D. Coach of the Year: Football coaches will select a "Bob Reade Football Coach of the Year" at their regular fall meeting. (Quote is on page 5)
http://www.cciw.org/pdf/sports_guides/FootballSportsGuide.doc

why not 8 coaches of the year. they all try hard. lets honor everybody......this kind of dilutes it. I also don't agree with having 12 or 15 first team selections for 11 spots. its too many and makes it insignificant.

I think you only see a CO-COY or DPOY or OPOY when the voting is tied among the coaches. If there is a clear winner of majority votes you won't see a CO-anything. this simply means the coaches all thought swider was the best choice this time around. both may have been deserving but the coaches voted for 1.

The coach of the year is done with a silent ballot, meaning it could have been 5 votes Swider, 3 votes Thorne, you never know.  I wouldn't say that "the coaches all thought swider was the best choice this time around".  It had to have been the majority though.

I don't think it would matter.  He played safety last week.

MatBlake-- I was referring to the CCIW with the mini-Dynasty.  4 of the last 5 and 5 of the last 7 won and/or shared,  is mini-dominance if you ask me.  If you are judging by beating MUC then there are only 2-3 teams in the last 5-6 years that are in that caliber.

That is mini-dominance.  Anyway, sorry for the mix up.  I must learn to read more carefully.  I went off on why Wheaton shouldn't be considered a dynasty on a national level when it was simply CCIW that was being talked about.  Anyway, as usual, I messed up and I will being going back a deleting my "national level" posts.  Hope nobody is bothered by the incontinuity.   :-[ :-[ :-[

Usee- I do know Coach rucks and have had many football/life discussions with Coach Rucks.  He is a real standup type of Coach that will do anything for his players.  He is the type of guy that will "go to bat" for his Players regardless of the situation.  I don't know of any possible "issues/feuds" with Coach Rucks, but the times that I have met with him, he seems like a Coach that you would want to play for.

Mat Blake,  I was referring to Dynasty/Wheaton only in the context of the CCIW, not post season.  4 of the last 5 and 5 of the last 7 means that 70-80% of the time, Wheaton is at the top.  Looks like a mini-Dynasty, domination to me.

Yep, figured that out, after I had already made a fool of myself again  ::) Guess I will just stick to making fun of opposing teams mascots....... ;)

MatBlake-- we all make mistakes and yours truly makes them all the time.  I try to limit the mistakes I make from happening again.
No in all seriousness  I think Coach Swider has Wheaton in a great position right now, similar to how Harve Chrouser had things assembled back in the 50's.

That's great that you are friends with him. What I specifically asked you was whether you know for sure he nominated Fox to the all conf team? I am assuming you do not. I am simply stating a fact that if coach rucks nominated him he would have recieved at least 2nd team. so there is no situation where there were "too many other good linebackers". I cannot say what happened because I don't know coach rucks and haven't spoken to him about it.

Speaking of Mascots, I was baby sitting my Cousins and saw a special on Slugs on Animal Planet.  There is a High School in California with the nickname Banana Slugs.  Their Mascot is a 8 foot tall Banana Slug.

Glad my nicknames were hs Knights and college Bluejays.  Whew!

Usee, I do not know if Coach Rucks nominated him and if/what was said or done between Rucks and Fox.  All I am saying is that if I had a vote, Fox would have been on the AC list on the 2nd team.
