So what are the predictions on the Wheaton and NCC playoff games this weekend?  (or is this already being discussed over on the North Region Playoff board?)
Wheaton Football: CCIW Champs: 1950, 1953-1959, 1995, 2000, 2002-2004, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2019

Here are some offensive lineman to watch if you are going to the Wheaton/MSJ game. Wergers in the LT and White is the RT.

#61 Steve Wergers 6'3'' 290lbs (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills), JR, 1st team HCAC

#76 Brian White 6'2'' 275lbs (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle), JR, 2nd team HCAC

It will be interesting on how they will try to handle Studebaker, if they will pass block and cut him or use a TE/OL combo or a OL/RB combo. Either way I see Studebaker getting the best of them at least once.

They also have the OPOY with RB Mike Lovell and DPOY DL Matt Lawless along with 10 ALL-HCAC first team players and 3 second team ALL-HCAC players.

I predict:
Wheaton 38 MSJ 10

(MSJ has only scored 30 or more points twice)
(Wheaton has been over 40 points 4 times this season and over 30 points 7 times)

NCC 30 CU 34
(I have no reason for picking this other than I think CU has NCC's #)

Here is some more from Indiana:
-Vincennes Lincoln Alices

I'm glad someone mentioned the Alices.  Our high school football coach was a Vincennes Lincoln alum and told us about the nickname.  We thought he was putting us on, but then again, would you want to make something like that up??  I bet the nickname really strikes fear into the hearts of opponents!

While researching that particular nickname, I ran across a marvelous site, "Marc's Distinctive High School Mascot Collection."  Someone has invested tons of time in not only collecting but also researching the origins of such nicknames as the Yuma (AZ) Criminals, the Key (MD) Obezags, and the Man (WV) Hillbillies.  The pages also have mascots for colleges.  The home page is http://www.halcyon.com/marcs/mascot.html.  A word of caution, however: don't access the page when you have something pressing to do.  It's a riot!

Weren't there any other teams in the conference?  That seems like a lot.  Either they are that good or the other teams in the conference weren't at all.

For Wheaton/MSJ I looked at the stats from their common opponent, IWU. that's pretty telling. based on that I say:

Wheaton 42 MSJ 7

for NCC/Concordia I think this is a whole new ballgame. Kniss throws 4ever, sulo runs wild and the killer B's (bellazini, Bazant, Behemoth--the big guy) stifle CUW:

NCC 37 CUW 17

RedmenFB44

Wheaton should take care of MSJ.

I perdict:
Wheaton - 38
MSJ - 21

As for the NCC/CUW game, I am having a tough time with this one. Should be a hard fought battle till the end. I'll give a slight edge to NCC in this one.

I perdict:
NCC - 27
CUW - 24
It's REDMEN not RED MEN

I'm going to go with Wheaton 35-10.  Wheaton has been playing more consistently since their loss.  MSJ will give them a run in the first half with Chaz Black being the difference in the second half.

I'm going with North Central 28-10.  I think that the Cardinals will control the game with dink and dunk passing. CUW will play their usual ball control offense.

For those North Central guys headed up to Milwaukee, with your wrap ups on the game, let us know what the stadium is like.  The WLC posters over on the MIAA board seem to be pretty proud of it.

On the OAC Pickems board, they established North Central as 8.5 point favorites and many of them are still picking NCC to cover. The Cardinals are getting more love there than on the CCIW board. ;D

Mark Yena is his name, and yes, he is a Big man.  I was glad to see him moved to defense.

On a matter of ridiculous nicknames, here are a few of my favorite Illinois high school nicknames.

Teutopolis High School - The Wooden Shoes
Fischer HS - The Fightin' Bunnies  :o
Pekin HS - Formerly known as the Pekin Chinks, to honor their sister city in China.  They are now the dragons.

On a side note, I've driven through Watersmeet in the UP of Michigan.  Talk about a one horse town...

Cant forget the FREEBURG MIDGETS,   It feels like one is hanging from my necklace.

Did you know that according to the Chicago Sun Times, Kam Kniss ranks 10th all-time in Division III total offense with 10,533 yards?  What a career he has had and what a loss he is going to be to the Cardinal Program.
