red99- bad karma for personal chatter in a public room. shame on you.  ;D

I hope Usee is right about Saturday. Since the Redmen don't appear to be particularly explosive on offense, hopefully Barnes (or Lindmark) will be able to be patient with the ground game if Carthage stops them early. However, if they force Roe to throw more than a handful of times, it'll probably be a long day for the Vikes.

just wondering if the redmen are slowly starting to allow the #2 running back take over the rushing duties and giving namon the ball less? Also, are there any injuries to either team that could affect the outcome of the game??? ???

Tyson took most of the snaps against Millikin as Namon had some physical problems during the off week. When Namon ran some limited plays against Millikin he looked and performed just fine. Consider the situation as the Redmen with 2 serviceable and capable running backs.

The Carthage parking situation is a simple matter of higher enrollment, more cars on campus and $200 a pop for a parking permit. Those who payed for the privilege park, those who visit walk. Construction is a mess, but a neccessary improvement and not vthe reason for the strick parking enforcement

I am a homer yes, but does anyone think if Carthage wins against Augie that they can run the table.  Living in NY I don't get to see any CCIW games and can only listen to the games on the computer.  So it is difficult to compare the rest of the teams.
We will always be REDMEN

Mr. Ypsi

IF Carthage beats Augie, of course they COULD run - but they play both NCC and Wheaton in AWAY games.

Can, of course; likely, no.

Redmen96

Ok let me rephrase the question.  Because before last week North Park "Could" run the table.

Who thinks if the Redmen pass the test of defending a unique offense like Auggie.  That they WILL run the table.
We will always be REDMEN

usee- thanks for the good karma, you rule! I think Carthage has an enormous bullseye on their back unlike last year. I personally dont think they can beat Auggie, but if they do, they still have Wheaton, who was beating NCC at one point, and they have NCC, who is very talented and are also favorites. Lets not forget NP gave the conference champs the biggest scare of the year. Two defensive tds saved the redmen that day. I'm sure that will be a huge game, not because NP is that talented, simply because of the immense rivalry. Can Carthage run the table, yes, but so can the other 7 teams in the conference at this point of the season, well, except Norm and his crew ;D!

Zorba

You also didn't think that Carthage could beat Millikin last week!   ;D
HEY NORM, I LOST YOUR HAT! GO REDMEN!!!

redman 04, you are right. i didnt think they would beat Millikin. I didnt think they would be able to stop wallick and co. I stand corrected. But make no mistake of it, Auggie is not millikin. Their rush offense is one of the best. I understand the redmen bottled wallick up pretty good, but can they stop the Auggie qb and their three backs?? Not to mention that Auggie's o-line is def. better than millikins. Any word on the injury situation for either team??

matblake

I think the toughest thing about the Augie offense is their commitment to running the offense. Very unwavering even when throughout the game they have not had much success.  As a defender you always know that even though you have stopped that darned fullback dive like 15 times in a row the 16th time could be for a large gain.  In addition, when they do something out of the ordinary scheme of the offense it is twice as surprising and therefore more difficult to defend.

matblake

Another thing about the Augustana offense, to defend it you have to stick to specific defensive assignments big time.  Not familiar with the Carthage defensive scheme other than people have mentioned that there is a lot of blitzing.  Could this be a potential difficulty for the Redmen?

Over on the NCAC board someone posted some info on connections between D3 and the NFL Hall of Fame.  Its on page 102 starting at post 1516. Interesting stuff.

Again, I can not wait for this game on Saturday night.   Great Offense vs a great Defense.  What more can you ask for?

IMO, Carthage's Offense will be the deciding factor for the game!  And I'll spare myself the backlash; I know the score was 35-0 last year.   That has little to do with the way the game will come out this year.

RedmenFB44--- Like I said before.  I will always have Jack for a fellow Alumnus!  ;D

GO REDMEN!!!

Vikes 35- Post 150  you are right.  I was thinking of the Carthage big win over Wheaton last year.  Augie beat Carthage last year and I think they will do the same this year.
I spoke with Tom Journell this afternoon and Chris Kudyba is now the starting QB.  Both Kudyba and Freund have done a nice job at QB.
I don't think anybody is going to "run the table"  and I wouldn't be surprised if the CCIW Champ has 1 loss.
Where did the Pick Em's go?
Elmhurst over North Park 28-14
Wheaton over Millikin 35-7
North Central over IWU 41-3
Augie over Carthage  17-7

Good luck to all CCIWsters as the excitement and emotions continue to climb!  ;D
