Sons of Thunder,  I agree that Wheaton's defense will be (most likely) the best overall defense in the CCIW  no argument there.
I am hesitant and curious to see how Ullrich takes the #1 starting reigns next year for the Thunder.  I don't know if you are a player and/or former player, but as a former player myself, I can tell you that when you become the #1 starter, you get nervous.  This nervousness usually lasts 1-3 games (unless you're Rex Grossman and it could last 16 weeks!)  ;) before you find a comfortable rhythm.  Replacing a 2 time All-Conference QB is not easy and who is going to run the ball for the Thunder next year?  Black and Thornton were a dynamic duo in the backfield.  Who's their replacement(s)?

Plus Karma for Mugsy and CardinalAlum for their valiant attempt at reason on the IBCA board. I don't think anyone on this board has any ill will towards IBFC until someone over there makes outrageous claims about how they're going to kick some CCIW team's arse in the playoffs or how the All-North region team should be dominated by IBCA players. ::) I won't even tackle the spelling, grammar, all caps, etc. issue.

Mr. Ypsi

Well, if CardinalAlum is not going to do his part to keep Mugsy from seeking abuse on the IBFC board, I guess I'd better step in:

"Hey, Mugsy, checked out your position in the pickems lately?!" ;D

BTW, if you're delayed with the pickems because you can't think of a bonus question, Kmic and Beaver are generally regarded as the 2 best RBs in d3 - who wins the yardage battle Saturday?

AHHHH... thanks Mr. Ypsi.  I feel better already!   :)

I haven't delayed due to the wildcard question, though I haven't given it much thought either.  I like your thought on the Beaver vs. Kmic rushing yardage.  I think that is a winner.  I'll post the CCIW Pick-em's for this week later tonight.  Thanks.

Mugs...I realize the hesitation in putting so much trust into a QB who has never started, but make no mistake.  Zach Ullrich will be dynamite running the Wheaton offense.  As for Black and Thornton, the running game will probably return to Wheaton's ways of old and rotate 2 sets of TB's and FB's.  Right now, I tend to lean towards Walker Smith as the #1 HB, a sophomore redshirt who was hurt in the Hope game.  He and Andrew Hershy should split time.

Mugsy and CardinalAlum,

Have you seen what Pat has been doing on the IBFC board - you guys may never have needed to even show up! ;D

Though I'm sure it was fun!  (I have been known to tweak idiots myself! :P)

BTW, did either of you ever figure out what language they speak over there - it obviously isn't English! ;)

Yeah, Pat has been doing an excellent job reeling in some of the lunacy and blathering by wishful IBC posters.  You have to say it... it does get quite entertaining over there.  It certainly isn't boring.

Problem is that it gets a bit old as well when there is a bunch of chest thumping rants with little significant content.  I'm not sure what form of English is used in some of those posts - yikes!

SOT-II,

I think you've mistaken me as the one questioning Ullrich's future as QB next year.  I believe it was 79jaybird who wasn't necessarily optimistic concerning Ullrich's ability to step into the QB vacancy.

Quite honestly I was pulling for him to start this year given what I saw from him.  I thought he had a much stronger arm than Chupp and didn't get rattled in the pocket.  I think he throws the ball better on the run.  Personally I'm looking for a big year out of Ullrich in 07'.

Quote from: matblake on December 11, 2006, 10:15:18 AMFinally, why all the hate toward the Raiders?  Sure, they win all the time, but they aren't arrogant like the Yankees or the University of Miami (who certainly didn't back up their arrogance this year).  Their teams have class and the coach talks about how happy he has been with his graduation rates.  Do I wish that someone from the North would be able to knock them off?  Sure, I would have loved to see Wheaton go down there and beat them after the multiple beat-downs that we have received, but until someone does, I am happy to have them representing our region.

Well said, MB.

I was the one that commented on Ullrich and I wasn't criticizing him.  I meant that Ullrich has big shoes to fill in Chupp who has been a fixture at QB for a few years.  I think the Thunder offense needs a QB to take charge of the offense which is why I said Ullrich needs to step up and be there #1 guy at QB.

I don't think at any point here we were saying that you were criticizing him.  I said you were questioning whether or not he is going to be the one to step up and take charge.  There is a subtle difference between criticizing and questioning.

At any rate both SOT-II and I are in agreement that we think Ullrich will step in nicely to lead the offense in 07'.

Wheaton will have a much tougher schedule next season --- they have to play AT North Central.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I was just reflecting on how much more fatigue Wheaton coaches and players will have to deal with when they have to lug the Bell both to AND FROM Naperville. :P
