Wheaton comes back and survives 3ots to win 41-35
Survived a ground assault from a big oline and punishing runner, big penalties late in 4th quarter, and a defense that harrassed CHupp all day.  This time, wheaton had to rely on the big play as Milikin really shut down Wheatons offense time and again.

What was the score before the OTs?  You know how that short field helps drive up the score.

Is the Sutton kid from North Western related to Tony Sutton from Wooster College??

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

That kid is a real stud.  He just killed UW today.

Mr. Ypsi

redmen96,

True, but he also showed he was a freshman.  With 3:30 to go in the game and NW up by 10, he tried to gain an extra yard, didn't tuck the ball, and was stripped; UW made it a 3 point game 60 seconds later.  Despite his heroics overall, he's lucky he didn't end up the goat!

Redmen96

Listen  don't give him the freshman wright off right away.  Most running backs would cough it up.  The first defender held his knee up in the air while the other stripped the ball before going down.  That really wasn't his fault.

Augie wins 7-0 in a shootout.

Actually it was about as entertaining of a 7-0 game as possible. Great defenses highlighted by two goal line stands by Augie in the fourth quarter.

CCIW

 ???

It looks like the CCIW is changing....NCC has the best facilities, the best team and best institutional commitment to football.  Will they be the dominating force in the CCIW for a long time to come?

Wish I could have been at the Augie/Carthage game.  Reviewed the game summary on Carthage's web site.  Carthage had 1st and goal twice in the fourth quarter and didn't score.  Sounds like there was a dropped pass on one of the drives.  Anyone who was there, any detail you can provide would be appreciated.

CCIW,

I think it's a little premature to start talking about NCC becoming "the dominating force in the CCIW."  Yes they beat Wheaton, but, from all indications, Wheaton is not as strong as they have been in years past.  They haven't proven anything to me until they actually win a conference championship.  That is far from a guarantee with the number of quality teams in the CCIW this year.  I still believe NCC is the favorite to win, but until they prove it on the field, they are just another "challenger to the throne."

How could you give the Augie score and not tell how they scored? Seems to me a TD thru the air by this team should make headlines in Ripleys Believe it or Not.
