The '98 Cardinal D...was a great group.  I still believe that it was one of the top D's in the last 20 yrs of the CCIW.

That was a very good defense.  It's pretty tough to say that it was one of the top D's of the last 20 years.  I know the ineptness of the offense that year hurt, but unfortunately, wins and losses are what matter.  I would have loved to have had that defense with the 2005 team's offense.

Is DeGeorge still at Auggie coaching defense?

No, he has been gone for a couple of years.  Last I heard, he was out of coaching.

I kind of liked Joe D.  He was a good guy, things just didn't work out for him. I thought he might have made a decent D coach someplace.

guess not if he is out of coaching

I've said this many times over the last few years and I'll say it again...DeGeorge was a fantastic Defensive Coordinator....a bad head coach.....and he was absolutely nuts.  Those of us who played for him still tell stories about some of the things he said and the stories he told.  Nonetheless...he is a good man and deserves to be treated with respect.

So let it be written...so let it be done.

Thats what I thought I was getting at, I did like him and I respected him, I only played one year under him and he did say some crazy sh!t  ;) especially against Benedictine that year he cam over to the offensive side and said: "allright they're trying to run our own stuff against us...so we're gunna go out there in the second half and we're gunna     f&^%k 'em" and walked out of the fieldhouse.  We actually won that game and that was a year (believe it or not) that Benedictine was supposed to be a very solid football team.

I will always remeber and lmao about that one

The 2005 D wasn't anything to sneeze at though ;)

Alum...

When you refer to D-Joe's O-Coordinator who didn't know how to run the offense and not listen to his assistants...are you talking about the First OCoord...or the Second OCoord?

The first o-coordinator.  He had never run that spread offense.   I was talking about DeJoe that didn't listen to his assistants.

You were in the "others receiving votes"!  ;)  The mid-game benchings were better than any soap opera!

Oh dear god, i was horrible.  If anyone put me in that "others receiving votes "category they are on the sauce.

That offense was horrendous (not talking about players...just scheme).

I'll take your word on the not listening to assistants.... ;)

Do you still talk to the 2nd O Coord?  If so, give him a shout out from me...I often wonder how he's doing and feel like him and I left on poor terms.

Bad combination in a head coach.

Nonetheless...he is a good man and deserves to be treated with respect.

He didn't give out a lot of respect in his tenure, be it to players, fellow coaches, fellow staff, administrators or alumni.  He wasn't a bad guy, but he had horrible people skills!

Occasionally.   He's doing great as a head coach.  He's close to his hometown and is the AD now too.   I think that whole situation caused hard feelings for everyone involved with the program.  Time heals much of that and i'm sure he would be fine.

I think a better way to go at this list would be to post the top three at your school then debate their place in the conference. (you may not be able to come up with 3 for each group but I am sure you can get two of each.  Hopefully we can get someone to represent Millikin!

So here's my start with the Redmen
QB:
1.  Brown, 2. Garza (too bad we only had him for 1 Year)
RB:
1. Washington, 2. Burris 3. Baker
WR:
1. Garnes 2. Bergman (TE)
OL:
1. Binish 2. Glassman 3. Prybilski
DL:
1. Kalinowski-----Sorry Reidy!
LB:
1. Sedeska 2. Hartman 3. Fox
DB:
1. Prall 2. Barns
K:
1. Moore

Just My opinion
HEY NORM, I LOST YOUR HAT! GO REDMEN!!!

Interesting with Hartman # 2.  He was a great player! I don't remember Sedeska as much.  Was I right about Garnes?  Didn't he only play 2 years?

You want to talk about bad... Wheaton had an assistant coach back in the "dark ages" (late 70's - early 80's) that during the van ride over to NCC for a JV game asked if anyone had a pencil he could borrow.

Seems harmless enough of a question, right?  Until you understand that every player in the van was in full pads.

So where exactly would one in full pads being holding "a spare pencil"! ::)
