Terrible stuff.  Prayers for all in the Bluffton family.

Simply awful, its rare, but these incidents have a profound affect on a community both large and small, Oklahoma State had that happen with thier basketball team some years ago, and there is the recent movie about the Marshall football team.  It serves as a reminder how precious life is and how lucky we are to live and play in it.

Guys, the sentiments are super sweet, perhaps you could leave condolances on their boards? They are in the HCAC (Heartland). It just seems like they're a whole lot more likely to see it there. :)

Also Bob McMillen, the running back for the Rush, has his #44 jersey retired because he is the all-time leading rusher in Arena football!

I was looking threw my card collection because I am selling my whole collection  :'( but I did find a card of Ken Anderson (Augie QB) and also a player that played for Millikin. A wide reciever that I think played with Green Bay or the Eagles. The name is slipping my mind right now. Any help?

That would be Jeff Query.   Fastest receiver i've ever seen in this conference!

I absolutely hated trying (and I emphasize "trying") to cover Jeff Query.  The guy was scary fast.  I had to resort to my best holding to even slow him down.

Super belated penalty, 120ish yds, automatic touchdown. :D

mugsy, since he was a wide reciever and you were a linebacker you shouldn't have had too many problems.  :)

Gregory Sager

If I remember correctly, Query was at least briefly the punt returner for the Packers as well. You don't run back punts in the NFL unless you have some respectable speed at that level.

Oh, he had speed indeed.  At the time he had the 2nd fastest 40 time in the NFL - sub 4.4.  If I'm not mistaken he was a champion 100M sprinter in the NCAA D3 as well.

We pretty much doubled him all over the field - though often because of our cover 2 package.  A outside linebacker would bump him off the line and then run under his route while a corner would stay over the top.  I became quite adept at grabbin' and hang onto the jersey for 1-2 steps to give me a chance at not being left in the dust.

Overall I think we did a very good job on Query in the 1988 game.  I want to say he only had 3 or 4 catches for 60-70 yards.  Unfortunately we still lost 14-7 on a 50+ yard interception with under a minute left in the game.  I never saw the play as I left at half time in an ambulance with 2 broken ribs.  The most frustrating thing is I learn how we lost (driving for a game winning FG results in INT return for TD) from 2 nurses who where Millikin alum as I was in the MRI machine.  Nice...

One interesting tidbit on the interception, it was returned by Chuck Martin who is now the head coach of the repeat DII champions - Grand Valley State.

As I said in another post I only played half a game due to injury, so only 60ish yards in penalties.  ::)

John Munch - IWU LB played for the Jets and maybe the Pats for a few years in the mid 90s

Backer, we're not that old yet, so give us a little credit, though the time does keep passing quicker and quicker.  Anyways, Munch graduated from IWU in '98.  For the next two years, we went to training camp with the Jets, but unfortunately never made the final roster.  The following year, after Belicheck left the Jets to be the head coach of the Patriats, he invited Munch to camp with the Pats.  He made it to the final cut day, but unfortunately was cut in that last round of cuts.  I did see him play in a preseason game for the Pats that year by accident though.  I was watching the first MNF telecast with Dennis Miller as host and New England happened to be playing that game.  John played quite a bit of special teams that game I seem to remember, but not sure how much he got in on D.  After that or somewhere in the middle of that, I think he had a brief stop at the Redskins camp, but I'm not 100% sure on that.  Something sticks in my mind that he was there for a bit though.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!
