Football 2007

The weightroom is a part of the new Helwig Recreation Center and it is just gorgeous.  One of the most attractive, and most resourceful centers in the CCIW.

One of the neat features of CCIW competition (in all sports) is that you find yourself competing against many of your former HS teammates and friends.

Injuries?  Well NOBODY expects or wants to get injured of course, usually they are just freak injuries and unlucky breaks. (no pun intended)
Elmhurst lost their QB on the 3rd play of 2006 untouched he just stepped the wrong way and tore his ACL.  Just a freak injury.   He (Kudyba) is back here in 2007 and I am sure he is anxious to get back into the football flow.

Met the Elmhurst Baseball Coach at DC yesterday.  He was there to watch a double header.

Football 2007-  Coach Southern was an Assistant Coach when I was at Elmhurst and I always thought he would be a good HC in the future. I think Elmhurst is lucky to have him as our HC.  Just FYI- he played At Augustana so he has many CCIW memories.

Football 2007 What high school did your Son (and his friend) attend?  I think they made good choices choosing EC and CAR  and hope both of them are successful in the CCIW.

Personally, I think there were better choices!   ;D :P

couldnt agree with you more cardinal :P

Gotta love those JV vs Prison Team football stories...I think we've all had one if not two of those in our lifetime ;)

I think that takes some balls to schedule that JV game...are folks from wheaton allowed to say that?  ;) ;) :D :D ;D ;D I'm just razzin

The funny thing about this story, that is what I do for a living.  I run those prison athletic programs for New York State.  Let me tell you when you are there every day to see outsiders come in and go through the gates ect. and to see the size of the inmates it is very funny to see the look on their faces.

Question:  My son as a freshman reports to football camp at Carthage on Aug. 13th.  His friend that is going to Elmhurst reports Aug. 1st.  Why the difference,  why would Carthage start almost 2 weeks later.  Seems like they would all start at the same time.  Is practice time set by the schools or NCAA.

Preseason practice time is set by the NCAA and it's a rather complex formula involving both the date of your first game and the day classes start.

However, Aug. 1 seems inaccurate, no matter what.

In all honesty I was telling Football 2007 he made good choices (Elmhurst/Carthage) based upon ACADEMICS and REPUTATION  not really athletics.

79 Jaybird:
You may see that the Driscoll boys bring the winning traditions they have had to Carthage and Elmhurst!!!!!

For the Elmhurst/Carthage game you will have to add seating in the end zones because so many kids are coming to that game from Driscoll and at our banquet we said they will have to sit between the two teams.  lol

79jaybird

Football 2007-  very true and I know just how good that Driscoll Program is.  They have had a strangle hold in football for many years.
Carthage vs. Elmhurst usually gets a great crowd every year no matter where the teams are in the standings.  This is the arch rivalry game.  When I played, we circled Carthage as our arch rival "team to beat" each year.  (ala Bears/Green Bay)
Some of the greater attendances at Elmhurst Football Games include Carthage(Arch Rival) /North Central(more of a local affair) / Homecoming Game (for obvious reasons)

79jaybird, I will ask my son when he is to report back for football tonight and let you know. The summer is my favorite time of year weather wise but I can't wait for the fall to get here for football.

My son is graduating today from Driscoll Catholic High School.  He is excited about graduating but sad about leaving DC.  He said he will never forget walking out on the field at U of I every year for state.  His friend from Driscoll just choose Carthage as well, so they will room together.

What is your son's name and position?  I know NPU has Jeff Eggert coming and I think one other lineman coming from Driscoll, Senese maybe?

That was just a juvy camp in that movie. Those kids still had a chance in life. Our guys are hard core NY State prisoners not the kind you want back on the streets.  For most it is too late to help make them better people we are just trying to keep them busy so they don't riot.

PS The Rock is cool ONLY because he played ball.  Not that other junk.

I also gave you a karma pt for even joking that I was like the Rock.
