Quotelol, my brother's last season was like 5 years ago.... The fact that you guys still remember my mom and her, uh, very emphatic take on the fact that Wheaton had a chance to beat you is actually hilarious.

April.......you are a fountain of wisdom, manners, and decorum compared to your "interesting" mother.  And believe me I know.........we can pick our friends.......butttt.....family is another matter.   ;D

Teasing......I am sure she is a loving mother who has raised you to be the fine young woman you are.....

Who from Post Patterns is traveling to Alliance on Saturday?  If you are arriving Friday night, maybe we can plan a friendly get together to discuss the game, and have a few.

hscoach, you're calling it a 30.5 point margin, and scamming us with a 'stern test' crack? :D

I'm being perfectly honest about them providing a stern test.  The final score is only one part of the equation.  My definition of providing a stern test involves the following:

1.  is the opponent well coached, plays precise and doesn't make unforced errors?

2.  can the opponent match Mount's intensity?

3.  can the opponent neutralize Mount's usual advantage at the line of scrimmage?

4.  does the opponent tackle well and not give up easy big plays?

5.  is the opponent's game plan and play calling well thought out and designed to win, not just keep it close.  Do they take chances when the situation presents itself and do they go conservative when needed?

6.  does the opponent make Mount "work" for everything they get?

7.  did the opponent make Mount play a full 4 quarters?

8.  final score

I believe Wheaton will easily do all of the first 6 things on that list and probably #7 too.  #8 will be determined.

I agree with this HSC. I would say the #1 reason Wheaton is 0-5 in alliance, however, is #3. They have been handled at least 3 out of 5x at the LOS. I think its closer this year than in some of those games but I am not confident by any means.

I think that number 3 will be something to see.  I think Wheaton has a pretty good line this year.  They have good size and ability.  I haven't seen Mount play this year as I was busy on Saturdays, but I think Wheaton will give them a good test.  They need to play mistake free ball, but I think they can go toe to toe with Mount.  I never thought I'd be saying this...but...... GO THUNDER!!!

Wheaton knew they were behind the perennial eight ball coming into this game.  The odds, the stats and virtually everything is against them.  So Coach Swider went deep down inside himself to pull this speech that has been stored in the bellows of his soul since the first time he went against Mount Union and has only now - yes only now with a resolve stature decided that this monumental task ahead was the right moment in Wheaton college history to deliver the most inspirational speech given to any team of all time.

Transcript of speech:

And even if we win, if we win, HAH! Even if we win! Even if we play so far above our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days; even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at our side of the field; even if every man woman and child held hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn't matter because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Mount Union because they've got all the Stagg Bowl Trophies! It just doesn't matter if we win or we lose. IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!  IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER! IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER...

Even now far away in Batavia IL at my workstation I can hear a faint - IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!  IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER! IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER...

Wheaton College ended my career yesterday, unfortunately, but I wanted to give the Thunder the credit they deserved!!  They were a class act and had a great game plan.  I hope the Thunder can give Mount all they can handle and more next week!

GrizPride,

Congrats to you on an outstanding season.  I was incredibly impressed with every aspect of the Franklin program on Saturday.  Great atmosphere, outstanding team, class all around...

Thanks Mugsy.....Wheaton was a class act as well.  Not a whole lot of smack talking going on Saturday thats for sure!  Sometimes that can be fun!, but not when its your last game ever.....WC left a great impression on us for sure and they are a model program......good luck Saturday Thunder!

Did he get as excited as he did in preseason when he made a tackle?   I noticed that, and of course if I was him, I would be hooting and hollering as well.  Its the NFL and he is from Eureka, IL  :)
