Tackle Nate. Sack Micheli. Block. Hustle. No mistakes. There, all my secrets are out there. The real secret is putting it all together every play.

Did you forget  Chase Shorts?

That would be rendered moot by "sack Micheli". ;D

Once you've done all those: keep ahead of LK's adjustments.

Just put 8 or 9 in the box and hope the secondary can cover if they go long. If successful Mt. Union is now one dimensional. I have Wheaton in my bracket this far but no farther. I still hope they win however.

Really?  One dimensional?  I don't know if you've read this...but they have this QB named Greg Micheli, he's a Gagliardi finalist, the most efficient QB in the NCAA, has a 3.8 double major, and spends his weekends rescuing baby seals off the coast of Alaska...okay I made the last one up.

One dimensional in what way?  If a team stacks the box it'll be Micheli to Shorts for 6...lather, rinse, repeat.

Yeah, I didn't mention taking Cecil out of the game. I didn't have time to list all the weapons. That "one dimensial" comment is funny. While in LK's ideal world Mount would have an equal amount of passing and rushing yards he's never seemed afraid to focus on one or the other. Ultimately a big key is how well Wheaton plays over their mistakes and how well they forget about Mount's big plays. As I said earlier this has been a huge season for Wheaton so far and if they can focus on man-on-man, assignment football you just never know. I wish it was Saturday already as my productivity at work has hit an all-time low.

Nothing against "The Roop", but he is not a CCIW guy and probably doesn't know as much about MUC as others.  Virtually every CCIW poster knows MUC can destroy you running, passing and special teams.  You can't just focus on one aspect and expect to win.  That is part of the reason why MUC has been so unstopable... along with a nasty defense.

Yeah, Mount's defense is nasty but so is Wheaton's. Those kids do a very nice job.

All kidding aside, everybody is good at this point.

I think the (yet to be found) key to COMPLETELY shutting down Mount Union's offense and Wheaton's offense (because they are both impressive IMO) is playing 13 in the box, 5 in the secondary and hoping the referees aren't so good at math....  This would leave them with no dimensions to work with ;D

You are absolutely right seventies and personally, I'm done speculating. Just hope everybody stays healthy on both sides of the ball. By the way, I hope you're feeling better. I fear I'm headed for the same kind of surgery you recently had and I'm not too thrilled about it.

Looks like Andy Studebaker is enjoying himself in Kansas City.

Would be nice to have those moves on the field in Alliance this Saturday.

A couple of years ago this would have been grounds for expulsion from Wheaton.

Given what was on display, I think it still is!   ;D :P  I think that is why Wheaton had the rule in the first place... to avoid brutal displays of what can be interpretted as dancing.   ::)

No "Dancing with the Stars" in Andy's future... thankfully.

With the excitement of Wheaton in the semifinals I haven't much tought about the other game.  What is the spread?  I don't know much about either team or conference, anyone have any thoughts?

Based on what teams are in the other semi-final game, many are arguing we have 3 of the best teams in all of D3Football in the semi-finals, and Wheaton.

UW-Whitewater is the defending national champion, who beat Mount Union for the title last year by a score of 31-21.  Whitewater has been in the championship game the last 3 years.  Nuff said... definitely a top team.

UMHB is right up there in the opinion of many.  UMHB beat Mount Union in a semi-final game in Alliance back in 2004.  Not many teams have beaten Mount Union in Alliance.  UMHB lost the championship game to Linfield, 28-21.
