In a bit of a twist of CCIW irony I noted that Mt Union's Nate Kmic burst onto the scene as a freshman in the playoffs vs Augie in 2005 and set the NCAA rushing record as a senior vs Wheaton.

Good news is... there will be nothing further related to Kmic and the CCIW - thankfully.   ;)

If you do the math, I believe over 10% if Kmic's career yds are against the CCIW

WOW... Maybe my new name should be Mr. Ypsi's bitch!    :'(

I vote for that.

Oh gosh, this just took a turn for the worse.  Now I feel badly for you Redman04.

As do I! :o ;D  [I've already got a female dog, though she's currently undergoing chemotherapy - she's now my $10,000+ dog. :(]

So when do YOU surrender your nom de guerre?  Going back to Billy Pilgrim, or you got something else in mind?

No, Billy's dead to me. :o

Let's do this... one more game - Florida vs. Oklahoma or MUC vs. UWW to keep it D3-oriented, for all the marbles. :P

Redman04 calls it.  If he wins, he gets to choose both of our tag names.  If he loses, then he becomes "Mr. Ypsi's Female Dog" :-[ (until Carthage plays IWU next year) and I get to choose my own tag name.

Complicated, but this is the last twist in this bet. ;)

I'm starting to think you like your present name!! :D

Congratulations to Wheaton on an excellent postseason run.

Besides AFCA, and D3football.com,  are there any other Division 3 All-american publications?

Honestly, I lost fair and square and I'm not one to Welch on a bet, but if you wanna keep the bet going I'm game!  I have been having fun with this!

SO I propose  3 more games

MUC vs UWW we'll use HSCoach's line on the OAC pick'em board
Rose Bowl (just cause its the granddaddy of them all)
And Bcs Championship game...We'll use USAToday's Sherridans odds.
You can pick 1st and 3rd its only fair you won round 1 of this years bet!
HEY NORM, I LOST YOUR HAT! GO REDMEN!!!

There is no Lindy's postseason team and Gazette didn't do a 2007 team so who knows if they'll do a 2008 one.

SOT asked a reasonable question, which seems to be asked every year at this time. Mount Union is in the Finals again. They won their semifinal game by 24 points, and they seem to be at least 24 points better than any other team in D3 with maybe the exception of UWW.

It is a legitimate question, but when you follow it with "With MUC dominating year after year you would have the think those ideas have been floating around" it smacks of the old "can't beat them, move them up a Division" argument. I bet people once clamored to get Augustana out of D3, and now look at them.

I just wanted to clear up the perception of my original statement. I think it would be a shame if MUC were to be moved to D2 because of all of the great things they bring to D3 football.

They are legacy that cannot be seen anywhere else. (I played at MUC in 2004 and it was noticed every where). By this I mean that the players are coming to play at MUC because of the tradiotion that they have and not because of scholarships, bowl games and NFL promises.

MUC has fans second to none. The best thing about the MUC alumn and fans is that they are NOT bangwagon fans but are truely linked to MUC by a family member playing, attending MUC, ect. I cannot tell you how many Miami Hurricane hats and t-shirts I saw 10 years ago floating around the school hallways as soon as they started winning (It was annoying).

With this being said I was not asking for MUC to be moved to D2 but instead wondering what would be the circumstances (rules) that would force a team to move up in divisions.

I did not even mention the 200+ freshman that show up to play for MUC. I believe they are the only team in D3 that has cuts.....but I could be wrong.

Hey, any time man.  We're obviously on this board a lot more than the OAC guys, so I was able to tell the spirit in which you were asking the question better than they could.  You've never been one to complain about anything really, but they don't know that not being CCIW board regulars.

SOT--Mount does not cut anyone who wants to play and a great challenge for the coaches is to structure practices where everybody gets some action. That number of players makes for an interesting depth chart at some positions with 8-9 players competing to climb up the ladder.

Any CCIW folks coming down to VA for the Stagg Bowl?  I'll be there, probably wearing an old Wheaton practice jersey over  my sweatshirt.  Just call me Uncle Rico . . .

I saw a post on that site that said Don Hansen was not doing well health wise, which is why they have not been doing any all-american teams and updates.

Redman04--You changin your name bro ;)  Enjoy the Stagg and Best Wishes for You and Yours on the New Year!!!!!!!!

Mr. Flynn

Not to knock Ittersagen but I think Wenger was a more dominating player this year than he was.  I think it shows that the people who pick the all american teams pay little attention to the regular season.
