4.23? Really? Faster than Deion Sanders? Mugsy, that means you ran 4.4. Well, at least it means the Mt Union Db runs 4.22.

I noticed Jesse scott on the sidelines during the first series of the game so maybe he played a play or two but I don't remember seeing him come out. Maybe he did.

Did anyone else notice the clock running during the out of bounds pass plays on UWW last drive for a touchdown.

Remember the rule changed this year. Outside of two minutes remaining in the half, the clock stops on out of bounds plays only until the ball is set.

Hey Pat, I did remember that rule.  The plays in question though were out of bounds and the clock never stopped.  Not even for the ball to be reset.

Usee, I'm only going on what's posted in the Wheaton weight room as the best times/lifts for current and all players.

If Pokorny ran a 4.23, someone was trigger happy.  I don't think there is single player in the NFL now or in the recent past who runs a legit 4.23.

Remember these 40's are electronically timed which are usually .10 seconds slower than hand timed.  If a kid ran a legit 4.23 which is about a 4.33 FAT then that would put him in the top 2 in combine times.  I haven't seen that kind of speed in the CCIW.  Not sure someone that fast would be playing in DIII unless he couldn't run, catch, was very little, or didn't have any decent athletic ability.

As we all knows speed kills but it's all relative.  A player who runs a 4.4 can be outplayed by a player who runs 4.6 but is quicker to his top end and has quick feet and moves.

I ran a 4.4 once, but then realized I had 20 more yds to go.....

You must have read it wrong. Given your memory on the Jesse Scott thing I think we need separate confirmation. There is no way Pokorny ran a 4.23 40, hand-timed or not.  8) ???

orsky

Usee, you are right.  Pokorny ran a 4.34.  At least it made for lively conversation.

Congrats to the CCIW for its All-American Representatives! Also congrats to Wheaton on its great run in the playoffs!  Looking forward to the football season in '09!
CARDINAL PRIDE STARTS WITH ME!

Hey all,
First of all, congrats to MUC on their title, UWW on making it to the title game, and to all CCIWers who garnered All-American recognition.

I just wanted to let everyone know what a pleasure the CCIW board was this season, I'm sure none of that had to do with the fact that I'm a NCC alum and they were very good in '08.

Now that the season is over, Robert Goulet will go back to his lounge act, which includes drinking whiskey in the NW burbs. I'm sure the Breakfast of Champions fans will be upset that there will be one less NCC backer on the board!

I look forward to 2009 with much excitement...none of which has anything to do with NCC returning what could be the best team in school history...and wish everyone Happy Holidays and hopes for a great 2009 for all.

If ever I would leave you
It wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer I never would go.
Passes streak through the sun-light,
Jerseys red as flame,
the 1st place trophy's luster
that puts Wheaton's silver to shame!

But if I'd ever leave you,
It couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn I never will know.
I've seen NCC sparkle
When fall nips the air.
D3 football in autumn
And I must be there.

Maybe I could leave you
After the playoff show?
Or on the wintry afternoon
when you catch the Stagg Bowl?

If ever I would leave you,
How could it be in Spring-time?
Knowing how in Spring the recruits start to show?
Oh, no! not in Spring-time!
Summer or even Fall!
Winter is when I will leave you all!

RG, all I can say is... wow.

Final top 25 poll is out.  Wheaton finishes at #5, behind Mount Union, UWW, UMHB, and Willamette.  North Central finishes at #9.

2 Top 10 CCIW teams at seasons end.  Not sure, but that may be a first.
