Yes, great Super Bowl.  Either team could have won; Pittsburgh deserved the win.  However, officiating crew was lousy - they missed many calls, and while they made [some of] the obvious ones, they even messed those up. :P :-X  Certainly not the stellar officiating crews that they had from the last two Super Bowls (of which featured a former MIAA player on the crew).  Anyway, I'm glad it wasn't one of those boring Super Bowl blowouts that have been witnessed quite a few times.  ;)

Mr. Ypsi

After way too many years of the 'Stupor Bowl', we get perhaps the two best in a row when both seemed on paper to be mismatches.  Who'd a thunk it?

The crew seemed determined to insert themselves into the game on a consistant basis.  Bad calls, good calls but overall, just way too many calls, IMHO.

GLS:

I agree with you.  BTW, in seeing some of the replays of the INT TD just before the half, it appears that the crew missed a holding call at mid-field while Harriston was running the ball.  It appeared to me that one of his blockers has a hand grab on the jersey of one of the Cardinals and pulls him right down (again, at mid-field on the sideline).  If a closer view look confirms that, then they missed that call and it would have potentially had a different outcome on the game.  I have no agenda here, but at the same time it looks like that call was missed.  Anyone else notice that or...is it that I need my glasses?!! ;D ::) :)

I understand that Wheaton recently received a commitment from an excellent QB prospect.  Can anyone confirm?

This work for you?

Wow...Jordan Roberts to Wheaton College... FANTASTIC!

I love the last line of the article.  "He walked out (of his visit) and said, 'Dad, that's where I want to go.'"  I think that's what I told my pops, verbatim, 16 years ago (has it been that long?), after my visit.

Jordan... as the great philosopher Fuzz used to say, "WELCOME TO WHEATON"

The kid has great size (6-2, 204 lbs according to the IHSA website)...   You may have found a 3 year starter if he pans out the way Wheaton hopes so....great recruit.

Sounds like that is a real possibility.  Great character, great athlete, solid leader, and received outstanding coaching in H.S. from Don Beebe.

From the Super Bowl:

During Harrison's 100 yd INT return you may notice Larry Fitzgerald running into his own player as he ran down the Cardinal sideline trying to catch Harrison. the player was standing in the White boundary area that is restricted to players. It kept Fitzgerald from catching Harrison until the goal line. This video will be endless fodder for all coaches who spend most of the game yelling at players to "STAY BACK"!

True. It could have taken Arizona longer to score, leaving no time for Pittsburgh to come back.

At the time, I told my friends we were watching the game with that they scored far too quickly.

I thought that same thing, too, Pat.  Also, I thought that Roslithberger's "double pumps" on those passes during the final drive were so effective - aside from the great catches that were made, those "pumps" were what made it happen IMO i.e. froze the db's and lb's just enough for a spit second to allow the receiver(s) being even more open that they/he was/were.

BTW, did you see the comparison on stats that ESPN Sports Center showed regarding the final drive in this year's game with last year's Giant's win?  Those were so close, almost the exact same, that is is "eerie".  Overall, a great game for the fans to watch, except for those who were pulling for Arizona.

Recruiting article in the Daily Herald today with alot of CCIW mentions (mainly North Central, Augie, North Park, Wheaton). Anyone know anything about any of these kids?

Hello to all you NCC fans/alums...

I am contemplating taking my son (13 yrs old) to the O-D football camp being held at North Central College.  I hang out in Chicago regularly, and this would be a good way to do a vacation/football camp combo.

Questions....

What are the facilities like at NCC?  Turf?  Dorms?  Food?

How long is the Metra ride from downtown Chicago to the campus?

Is there any restaurant/bar/fun place worth visiting in Naperville?

Thanks for any and all input.....

robertgoulet

SS - I graduated from NCC in 04...here's the best I can give you...

Facilities - One of the best in the CCIW (for football, at least)

Dorms - I believe the campers are put in Ward/Ft Hill (someone correct me if I'm wrong), which are fairly new.

Food - After hearing horror stories from friends who went to other colleges, I have decided that NCC has an above average cafeteria.

Metra ride from downtown to NCC is about 45 minutes. The metra stop in Naperville is 2 blocks from the north side of the NCC campus. About an 8-10 block walk straight south to the athletic complex.

NCC campus is 3 blocks east of downtown Naperville...lots of restaurants/bars down there. Probably more geared towards the adults than the kids. In the summertime I recommend dinner at Jimmy's, sitting out in the outdoor patio right downtown is great for people watching. There is a bar for every taste, depending on what type you enjoy.

I would say the experience would be worth it..  RG answered all of your questions, and I remember when they had the camp at NC when I was a student and all of the participants seemed to enjoy themselves and there were some good coaches.  I believe they bring in a few Bears players as well, but usually not the household names.
