I guess I was just expressing how talented the 2007 team from Wheaton was before it got hit with the injury bug.  Maybe they wouldnt have beat Mount Union, but I think talent wise, they would have had the best chance of recent CCIW teams.
Thats pretty much what I was saying.

While it is true I focused on the last two games of 2007 I felt that what ever issues with injuries, they were covered well enough to get to 8-0 which speaks well for the depth that existed on the team. So credit the team for that accomplishment is well deserved. Not to diminish the issue but injuries are part of it. As HS coach mentioned an injury was what launced Nate Kmic's career at Mount. If Aaron Robinson had not been injured Nate would not have entered the playoffs and gained over 1000 yards, etc, etc. Nate considered quiting at one point in his freshman year. Ahhhhhh. There aren't many teams that can loose a 1000 yard rusher in the 11th game of the season and replace him with another 1000 yards in five games.(Whitewater has become one of those teams of late)  I have always liked the games that Mount has had with Wheaton. A class team with a class coach that always come to play 60 minutes.
I guess the "injury card' bugs me. ::)
No harm intended there FormerCard.

I didn't interpret anyone as 'playing' the injury card - just 'idle' speculation on what might have been, if only ...

FWIW, I absolutely bleed 'green', but I don't think IWU could have come within two TDs that season if Wheaton was still what it was when the season began.  (BTW, Wheaton does deserve credit for managing to go 8-0 with such a rash of injuries, but note that [by far?] their two toughest opponents were in games 9 and 10 - schedulers are sometimes cruel that way! ;))

Whether or not a fully healthy Wheaton could have gotten 'over the hump', we'll never know.  And your point about Robinson/Kmic rightly notes that MUC also has to overcome significant injuries, but it also underscores the depth difference of MUC (and perhaps UWW) vs. everyone else - no one else has a Kmic on the pine! :D

My son told me that Carthage has over 170 kids in camp.  Over 100 returned from last years team.  I was wondering what kind of numbers are in the other camps in the CCIW?

Good thing the high schools have started in Indiana to give me a fix until the RedMen open on the 12th.

This is my 3rd year of subscribing to the Kickoff.  I highly recommend it.  Typically I feel comfortable with my knowledge on what's going on in the CCIW and maybe the North Region, but this gives me all kinds of information on all the other teams, conferences, and stories across the D3 football landscape.

In addition it helps support those who work so hard keep D3Football.com alive and well.  Thanks guys.

An updated North Park Athletics website has been launched.  Its format is more closely aligned to that of the revamped university website.

The Vikings' 2009 roster is now on line.  I didn't count the names on the roster, but it's pretty long and diverse with players from many states (Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin are each well represented) as well as countries (Norway, Mali, Kenya).

Every talented D3football player ought to watch this interview with Andy Studebaker of the Chiefs:

I love the message that Andy seems to be sharing here about work and commitment.

Hello friends:

I posted this on some of the other boards, but just wanted to mention that Hope College is celebrating it's 100th season in football this year, especially since we are playing some of your CCIW schools this year.  You might enjoy checking this link out on Hope's athletic website - some neat facts, stories and new researched info regarding Hope's football history.  I know I enjoy those aspects about all the DIII college football programs.

He played and had 1 tackle and 1 shared tackle.  He played all of the second half and I didn't see any balls go his way, although I didn't see every play.  I wish he had returned a few punts as the guys they had in didn't do well.  I would say that he played well.  Practice Squad?

Soon they'll have to place a special order for jerseys with four digits on the front and back.

A note to our friends in the CCIW, the games and spreads for Week 1 of the 2009 OAC Pick-Em contest have been posted.  Please join in the fun.  We have around 40 guys (and a few gals) picking last year.

PS, you might like the NCC/ONU line too ;)

He also played a few plays in the 2nd quarter at Nickel with the 1st team against McNabb and the eagles 1st team.
He had a tackle on Jeremy Maclin in one of those plays.

To be practical, practice squad becomes the goal I would say.   But hey, if a spot opens up on a 53 man roster anywhere besides the Jags, that becomes an easy choice.
