Here is the link for daily herald article on Coach Swider's son at Wheaton North.

http://football.dailyherald.com/story/?id=320958

Also a Tight End mentioned in there has last name of Thorson, connection with Wheaton Football Alum?

And although he will not be going to a Division 3 school, also mentioned in the article is Taylor Graham, who is the son of former NFL QB Kent Graham and will be attending his fathers alma mater next year...The Ohio State University.

Hello?  Anyone out there?  Nothing posted for nearly 2 days during the season?  Unheard of.

btw:  Can anyone tell me if Augustana is playing this week or not?  The CCIW website indicates that they are so I originally included the game in the CCIW-Pick-Em's.  One of the other posters corrected me that they don't play this weekend, but next...  I checked the schedule on Augustana site and sure enough, it is listed for next week.  I checked the UW-Platteville site... ditto.

This weeks Triple-Take mentions the Augie/UW-Platteville game in one of the categories.  Can someone near to either of these programs confirm?  Are you preparing for a game this week?  Geez...

Looks like a 1:00 p.m. central start Sept. 26th according to the "weekly schedules" for week 4 listed by D3football.com.

This has been a strange start for the season on this post board. The least amount of chat I've seen in the 6 or 7 years I've been a participant. Not sure I have an explanation for the collective silence. It was nice to hear the excitement and optimisim from all the NP followers after their week 1 victory. I haven't offered any Carthage input to date as I have yet to see the Red Men in practice or in game situations. I could tell you what some of the coaches thoughts are, but aren't they all positive and upbeat this time of the year?

We all know how the coaches picked the CCIW standings year-end, but unless I missed it I haven't heard what this board thinks the finish order for the conference will be. After the first few weeks of non-conference play....has anyone changed thoughts as to how the standings will be after the final week? I'm thinking a lot more parity in the CCIW than expected. NCC stumbled out the gate and lost a great player or 2, Wheaton has 9 new defensive starters and a new O.C. and struggled for a win at Bethel, Augie doesn't seem to be the powerhouse of yesteryear, IWU and Millikin look like they have their feet under them while Carthage, Elmhurst and NP still look to be defining themselves. I wasn't terribly impressed by the Carthage win over Hope (although happy for it) as most everyone expected them to come out on top. Looks like the Carthage running game is still suspect and they are relying on a spread offense moving the ball through the air. The defense looked like the bend but don't break style I've grown accustomed to. All these comments according to their stats from game 1. Anyone got some thoughts to add??

HEY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FEATHERS?????? My post photo has vanished and now reads something about and inactive account. What's up with that? I know it's been a little quite around here Pat, but I'm not totally inactive. How do I fix my photo?

Son of Tailgater

I have been out of the loop with Carthage and busy with my own football team this fall.

Here is the video of the final play last week with Wheaton beating Bethel as time expired.........pretty neat angle for the camera and notice the guy who jumps over the RB's block and somehow did not get to the QB....

Hey son.....your photo got zapped too. This must be a anti-Carthage conspiracy.

Both of our websites indicate the game is this Saturday, the 19th, at 6 p.m. in Rock Island. I'm not sure what sites you are logging into, but the game is definitely this Saturday.

Just got off the Augie web-sight and indeed they play UWP tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. in Rock Island. Don't feel confused Mugsy as D3football.com has it listed incorrectly. I assume you'll leave this game as a "skip it" in the pick-ems since that instruction is already in affect.

Really? Excitement from the NPU followers, yeah, but I for one was sounding a note of caution after the Carroll game. I think that any optimism that NPU fans have been showing, both here and elsewhere, is very guarded and fairly realistic. The Vikings are a very young team in a very tough league, and everyone who has ever followed North Park football for any length of time knows better than to get their hopes too high.

The people in the NAthCon room seem to think that the North Park @ Benedictine contest tomorrow afternoon is their league's one big shot at knocking off a CCIW team this year, and, based upon NPU's dismal performance against Rose-Hulman last week and the way that the Bennies played Elmhurst fairly tough (plus the important fact that the game is in Lisle), I'd say that they're justified in thinking that. This game is definitely not a gimme for the Vikings -- in fact, I'd say that NPU might be a slight underdog -- but it'd be great to see the Park emerge from non-conference play with a couple of wins for the first time in four years.

It's not a gimme, but I've got NPU in two pickems - don't let me down! ::)

cmon Vikes!  BU beats us?  This could be another long year.  It seems as if NPU has not given Shelby Wood much help or is he just playing poorly?

I don't think that Wood is the problem. He passed for 206 yards and a couple of TDs to Chris Anton today, and although he had a pick returned for a TD it's impossible to tell just from looking at the stat box if it was his fault or the intended receiver's. It appears to me that the bigger problem is the inability of the Vikings to stop the run. The Bennies rushed the ball for 301 yards today, at a 5.3 yards-per-carry clip. Following on the heels of a 307/7.5 performance by Rose-Hulman running the ball last week against the Park, that tells me that NPU is getting knocked backwards at the line of scrimmage on defense and is likely having trouble tackling as well, to boot (they didn't tackle well at all against Carroll in Week One).

Unfortunately, NPU has to start off the CCIW slate with a couple of teams that are capable of running the ball down the throats of even good defenses, Wheaton and North Central. It could get very, very ugly.
