I am not sure if anyone noticed from the Monday Night Football game last night but Pierre Garcon from Mount Union and now on the Colts caught the winning touchdown pass from Peyton Manning. Even though it was his only catch of the game I thought it was pretty neat to see a D3 player impact such a big stage game. It was also hard to believe that I actually played against him during the playoffs in 2004.  8)

SOT,

After looking at your profile picture I have a question.  Since when did Syndrome from "The Incredibles" become the mascot for Carthage?

For reference, go back a page to see any post from Son of Tailgater to see his profile pic.  See the resemblance?  I do...

I have to say that I'm really looking forward to the Wheaton/Hope game this week.  With Hope having played both IWU and Carthage tough, we'll get to play the comparision game headed into conference play.  At this point, Hope appears to be much improved over last season.

We might get a gauge from the Carthage vs. Valpo game as well.  Valpo lost to Concordia Wisc., to whom Wheaton demolished.

Mugsy, Valpo beat Concordia 20-17, but you are correct it will be a good gauge for this years Redmen, since Wheaton did demolish Concordia, 54-3.

I love the comparison game at this point in the season, still too early for clear information on teams, yet enough games have been played to provide some information.

Congrats, jaybird.  Soon the CCIW board will have another die hard Blue Jay supporter!

Thank you Cardinaldad and Matblake,  we are both looking forward to it.  With a mother who's an EC prof  and a Father who's a Bluejay alum,  the future baby will definitely have a blue tint to it.

Looking forward to the EC/Chicago game.  Two things in particular. penalties- will EC be able to clean up their act and limit the penalties, especially the "no brainers"  and their O-Line.  Pedi was hit too much in that Olivet game  and we all know without a solid O-Line, winning in the CCIW will be a challenge.

This will offer a side by side comparison.....

My Dad and I were looking his "feathers" picture and we stumbled across the picture on my profile and we started laughing so I decided to use it. They do look similar! Copyright infringement? haha

Congrats Jaybird! Great news! My grandparents and family were pretty much involved with Wheaton especially with my Grandma being a nurse there. I was told that to go to Wheaton over and over. But I seemed to have "rebelled" and went with the Red and Black instead.... ;)

If I may be so intrusive, what is your grandparents last name?  Looking at the email address in your profile, I'm suspecting a "small world" incident.  Not sure why I haven't connected things sooner, particularly as your dad has mentioned he knows people from the Wheaton area that I know very well.

btw: My congrats to you JB.  Quite the year for you! A wife and new family... Awesome!

thanks to all.  I will tell my kid to choose whichever college is the best fit for his/her career goals.  Who knows, maybe he/she will join me in the booth to start an EC legacy?   :P

SOT-  I can relate.  My Grandparents went to U of I and were contstantly barking at me about the Illini and Champaign experience.

I grew up in the same church as your grandparents - Glen Ellyn Covenant Church.   When I was at Wheaton your grandmother was still working in the Health Center at Wheaton College.  Like I said, small world.
