I agree with Ypsi about season openers.  One of Wheaton's 2 best teams in the last decade was 2002 where they lost their first game to Alma and then rolled through the CCIW 7-0, Scoring  319 pts and giving up only  87.   This North Central team seems similar.

It seems to have happened to NCC since they've started their run at the top of the CCIW. They lost to Concordia by 6 in the 1st game of 06 before winning conference and making the playoffs (where they beat Concordia by 29) and then lost to Washington in the 3rd game of 07 before winning conference and going on to make the playoffs.
You win! You always do!

In double overtime.  That was the last game I was able to broadcast on WONC since it took place before the start of the school year and the new students hadn't come in to boot out the graduated seniors yet.  Although I didn't like the outcome a bit, I had a blast broadcasting it as I had all kinds of inside knowledge since I had a chance to play with the '06 team in Italy that summer.
I am a NATIONAL Champion, and I refuse to lose!

Not that the weather will affect my attendance at tomorrow's game, but here are the projected game conditions for Naperville tomorrow:

There is a 20% chance of precipitation during the night, so the field may get a bath, but it's unlikely.

Kickoff
46 degrees, partly cloudy
20% chance of precipitation
Wind out of the West at 15 mph

By 3:00 pm
46 degrees, Sunny
0% chance of precipitation
Wind from the West at 14 mph

Go Thunder!

Is it game time yet?

Nope.  There's still plenty of time for Thunder and Cardinal bashing! :D

(We Titans will stay quiet and hope everyone thinks the title is clinched tomorrow. 8))

Unfortunately, your coaches will probably not think like you!  (I'm hoping we'll be underestimated! :D)

IWU had nearly three times the yardage, and OVER three times the first downs.  The ONLY place we lost that game was the scoreboard! :'(

I'm realistic enough to think NCC and Wheaton are probably the two best teams this year.  But it is a fact that you both still have to come to Bloomington.  Tomorrow the game of the week is Wheaton/NCC.  It MAY not be the game of the year in the CCIW. ;)  The Titans still control their own destiny. :)

The Thunder will get silenced.  No doubt about it.

Yes, there will be some games left to play. And interesting ones! But today, the focus is solely on Wheaton and keeping the Bell in its proper place.

Viking Mike

I see a big game out of Augie today.

Last weeks game was a shocker for all.  While IWU's defense was outstanding, you always had the idea that the Vikes would put one or two scores on the board to win it.  unfortunately, the offense looked like a high school team out there and seemed uninspired.  Meanwhile, Wesleyan played with energy and attacked on defense.  I came away very impressed with the Titan D.

So with a championship out of site, look for Augie to come out and re-establish themselves.  I hope to see better and more consistent play on offense.  The defense should shine again.  I see a relatively low scoring game.  28-14 perhaps.....Augustana!

Wheaton and North Central should fear IWU in coming weeks.  Their defense was suffocating.  And we all know what defense does for you!!!

It wont be much longer now....

Go Cardinals!

and to all CCIW teams...stay healthy.  It makes the games so much better.
