"John Thorne said he believes the Spartans have the best defense in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, giving up a stingy 11.2 points per contest. Illinois Wesleyan slipped to Millikin 19-13 on Oct. 10. Now, before you snicker at that loss, Millikin is 5-2 on the season and 2-2 in CCIW play."

From around the Midwest.
Was it Thorne who said Spartans or was it Clyde misquoting? Not sure how the green weinies will take this.
although I always make sure I don't wear an MSU shirt to Wheaton vs. IWU game.

Seeing as Thorne attended and played 4 years at IWU, I do not believe that he would make the mistake of calling them the Spartans.

I agee with NT.  Thorne definitely knows that they aren't the "Spartans" but the Geen Weenies, haha.  Seriously though, he takes this game very seriously, especially because the last few years they have had a very good team.  It should be a good game on saturday.
Looks like four in a row!

IWU has the same green and white uniforms as MSU, and their mascot-logo looks very similar to Sparty, so I could see the misunderstanding.

I might make an appearance at the NCC @ IWU game in Bloomington since I live here. Last time they made me check my bucket of water at the gate  :o

Like most people, I usually just drive around Bloomington because there has never been a reason to take an exit. But this weekend Oswego HS plays Bloomington HS and NCC at IWU. Hopefully I can figure out how to turn off the auto pilot.
Better find my flannel shirt so they don't think I'm an alien.

pistol,

That's okay because it is Halloween or should I say Haloweeeenie

While there are 3 CCIW teams ranked in the North Region, they are all relatively far down on the list due to having 1 loss each.  I would bet that NCC (if not Wheaton & IWU) are better than several of the teams above them in the rankings (specifically 3-5).

We'll see how the last 3 weeks of the season play out.

I'm a little surprised but all the undefeated teams are ranked higher. Wittenberg and CWR could stay undefeated. Otterbein still needs to play Mount Union, but they may not fall far with a loss. MSJ has Tommie More.

UWW is 4th in the West Region. Really? Monmouth at 5, but I think they expected to be higher.
