Thank you Mugsy.  That is exactly what people keep telling me to enjoy the time as it goes by faster and faster as they get older.  It is something I always wanted to be in life.

And be especially supportive of each other (and DO NOT turn down offers of help from friends/relatives) for the first few months - you're gonna have major exhaustion issues (especially Mrs. 79).

I have only spotty memories of the first few months due to total exhaustion (and that is despite the fact that both sons were breast-fed, so I was irrelevant for the overnight feedings - I woke up anyway, and was often the one to cuddle the baby back to sleep).  Of course, my spotty memories may also be due to the fact that this was 18 and 21 years ago - and I was no spring chicken even when they were born! :P

Twins made evenings a bit more complex... it was all hands on deck for all feedings.

I know many men will think I'm crazy (paging CardinalAlum)... but I made diaper changing time "Daddy time".  Mothers have so much special time with the babies between breast feeding, coddling, etc... To me it was very important to find time that was just between me and my infant child - even if the odor and task is not pleasant.  The talks and games are memorable.

Do it!  Your sniffer eventually dies!  You kinda manage to tolerate it, plus you can yell at your wife when she feeds the kids something that puts a different fragrance into the poop.

The quality time?  You get to tell the kids the important things in life about how Tommies and Johnnies don't like each other.  You can profile the incoming CCIW football teams. instill the appropriate affections for the Cubs and the White Sox and give the kids the lowdowns on CCIW Chat message board stuff.

Twins are twice the fun -especially when the older sister is 3 and she really wanted sisters (until of course they were born and took all the attention away from her). But, it does go by way too fast. Our oldest daughter will be getting engaged soon(her boyfriend called us to say he had something planned for spring break). So enjoy every crazy minute. At one time we had five kids playing softball/baseball! Now we're down to two kids -five sports and I know the time will fly before those days are over.
Congrats on the new arrival!

I couldn't care less if this room's regulars want to talk about Andy Hoffman or not. Seriously. I did my bit for keeping off-season conversation going by posting the link to the story about Hoffman's hire. The rest is up to you guys.

No disrespect, GS.  Merely used it as an example that there really isn't much to talk about in the offseason.

Oh, I know. Believe me, I consider assistant coaching changes to be pretty thin gruel for discussion, too. ;) I'm still amazed at how much conversational mileage you Cardinals types managed to get out of Weinke leaving NCC.

I agree w you GS. Weinke leaving won't have much of an impact on NCC. Many an assistant coach up and moves on in D3 every year. Continuity is important but mostly from the head job and the system. Look at Mt Union. The only thing that has stayed the same over the last 25 years is the head guy.

I would agree with you guys that usually with a single assistant coach leaving programs each year (especially at the DIII level although it obviously happens at DI and DII as well as we all know), that usually doesn't affect the team in regards to coaching as you mention.  However, I will say that if 2 or 3 left, I believe that certainly does make it much more difficult.  Having staff stability over several years is a huge advantage and plus (I believe that was a huge factor as to why Hope did so well for quite a few years way back in my day and beyond - although IMO current difficulties the past couple of years are not from coaching).  That being said, it is always difficult in some respects when a longtime assistant leaves/moves on regardless of the reasons.

Also, IMO, it doesn't matter per se what football topics (or others within the rules of these boards, of course ;D) area discussed here in the off-season.  It is the off-season and that's what it's for anyway!!!! ;)  That being said, thanks for keeping the boards going whether it is this one or the others.  (I do wish our MIAA was more active like this one, although we do have a good group of guys contributing to ours).

Does anyone know Augustana's 2010 nonconference football schedule yet?

I think they open against Greenville in Jacksonville on Sept 4th.

Coe does not have the Vikes on this year's schedule and the annual game with Platteville was ended last year after 14 plus years!!!

Anyone with any info on how recruiting is going?
