She's a journalist, Chuck ... or at least she claims to be one. Her whole life revolves around the dissemination of factual information to the public. Yes, to err is human ... but to err when you're a journalist is to lose your credibility. And the more spectacularly you err, the worse it is for you (e.g., Jayson Blair, Dan Rather, Stephen Glass, Jack Kelley, etc.).

Pat, I think that a better answer would be, "She's a talking head. Journalism is irrelevant." ;)

Wheaton's recruiting class has just been posted:

http://athletics.wheaton.edu/news/2010/5/12/FB_recruits.aspx?path=football

Couple of interesting names:
Justin Swider - RB, 6'0" 185lbs (son of Coach Swider)
Hunter Thorson - TE, 6'6" 220lbs (son of 3 time All-All American LB Chad Thorson)

Overall good looking class (on paper).  35 recruits total with a good spread of positions represented.  Some good sized OL and LB's.

I know one of them--Brandon Dykstra, a 6'2", 300 pound bruiser from Hudsonville Unity Christian who got some interest from D1 schools. He's a three year high school starter who played both ways, including some time at tight end, with a great pair of hands, though I imagine he's strictly a lineman at the college level. His older brother Jeremy is a backup post player for Trinity Christian's basketball team. The Thunder got a good one. Check the link below for WOODTV 8's Football Frenzy show from last October when Brandon's amazing one-handed endzone grab was featured. It comes starting at the 4:30 mark after the obligatory commercial.

oldknight, thanks for the insight.  Very helpful to deeper perspective than just height, weight and where recruits played high school ball.

any CCIW teams make the Lindys or Sporting News pre season top 25?  couldn't find it online.

also found this on a Wheaton QB committed recruit...big numbers!

Ft. Zumwalt West (8-2) at DeSmet (10-0)

"Another rematch from a year ago, the Jaguars came away winners over DeSmet in that contest, 35-21. This year, the Jags will have their hands full. The Spartans are absolutely destroying teams this year, and not just on offense with SMU-bound quarterback Steve Kaiser, but on defense too where the Spartans have pitched six shutouts, and that included three in district play. In fact, DeSmet outscored its district opponents 175-0. As for Zumwalt West, they went 2-1 in district and are led on offense by quarterback David Washko, who rushed for 1626 yards and 19 touchdowns, two of the better marks in the St. Louis area. Oh, and he also threw for 1904 yards and 12 touchdowns. Plus  he's only 5-9, 170-lbs. So while he accounted for 3500 yards of offense this season, he'll need another 500 if his Jags want to have any chance of slowing Pat Mahoney's bunch. Kaiser's thrown for 1460 yards and 23 touchdowns with only two picks while David Hill has 1249 yards and 16 touchdowns while his backup, Malcolm Agnew, has 496 yards rushing, and 13 touchdowns. Plus, Nate Latsch, who covers high school football for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch likened sophomore Duron Neal to Jeremy Maclin, saying the two looked very similar as HS sophomores. Duron is second on the team with 14 touchdowns."

The Titan women's track team also won the national title on Saturday.  Two national titles in three days - it is a GREAT time to be a Titan! ;D

Any day that I can make wisecracks about Wes Craven being a Wheaton grad is a good day. When it also gives me the chance to make fun of television talking heads and their ineptitude when it comes to basic research and any other necessary function of journalism ("You want me to look something up on Wikipedia? That's why I have interns working for me!"), it's a veritable humor bonanza. ;)

Some staffer got an arse chewing over that mistake.....maybe even got fired.  Curry certainly didn't do the research.  Funny stuff.

It's also a GREAT time to be a Card!

NCC's Men won the Cross Country National Title, Men's Indoor Track National Title, and Men's Outdoor Track National Title this year. The Al Carius legend continues to grow!
