I was checking the websites for Wheaton's opponents.  How do you like Olivet's schedule?  9/4 @ Wittenberg, 9/11 v Elmhurst, 9/18 v North Central, 9/25 v Wheaton.  Not only do they take on the projected winner of the NCAC, they also host 3/8ths of the CCIW.  Pretty tough way to start out.

Taken from the MIAA page 02 Warhawk points out another tough start:

That might be true, but I wouldn't want Willamette's schedule to start the year.
@ UW-Stevens Point   (second best team in the WIAC)
@ Hardin-Simmons   (has one of the best QB's in DIII)
Southern Oregon   (NAIA)
@ Linfield    (#3 in the country)

This is a very good team that could start the year 0-4... :-\

the teams with no QB question are:

Carthage: Evan Jones
Augustana: David Lee
IWU: Brien Rooney
Millikin: Luke Hockaday
Elmhurst: Joe Furco

Obviously Evan Jones is the leader of this group from a production standpoint but Brien Rooney and Luke Hockaday can take over games and David Lee showed late in the year he can be dangerous.

My bet for the other starters are:

NCC: Spencer Stanek
NPU: Sam Cochiaro
Wheaton: Jordan Roberts

I have no information to base these guesses other than these three saw playing time at the position last year. Its all speculation.

I think Stanek has a leg up due to his position as a returning player and especially due to his familiarity with the NCC playbook. However, if he falters, WIU transfer Jordan Tassio will likely be a very qualified and capable replacement.
A bio on Tassio follows. FIVE TDs in the state HS championship game and game MVP. HS player of the year by SIX publications! Also, 4 year academic all-conference.

Has FB practice begun at all the conference schools?
Sunday evening I was at basketball open gym in the new NCC residential/recreation center when the footballers were returning to their dorm rooms about 8:30. I'm sure they had the A/C turned down VERY low!

For anyone visiting NCC this season, I urge you to stop by and take a look at the new
facility.

From Chiefs camp, press conference w HC Todd Haley after preseason game vs Atlanta:

Q: What about LB Andy Studebaker, he seemed to have a good day?

HALEY: "I believe that young group of developing players I was overall encouraged with and he's clearly one of those guys that has come a long way and I think it was hard not to notice him in a lot of different areas. He's worked real hard to put himself in a position to have some success and I think some of that showed up. I'm excited about the direction Andy is going."

Great news.  Glad to see he is making an impact.

Wheaton's 2010 roster posted: http://athletics.wheaton.edu/roster.aspx?path=football&

53 freshmen on the new Millikin roster. Nice numbers for a freshmen class. i think IWU only had more.

Update from Chiefs training camp (non-football related):

QuoteDelivery For Studie

Andy Studebaker received a special delivery all the way from Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon; Geno's Philly Cheese Steaks.

The boys from Big Charlie's Saloon (aka Arrowhead East) were in town to take in practice and brought the frozen goods with them on their journey. Apparently, Studebaker had Geno's on the line when the Blackhawks took on the Flyers for the 2010 Stanley Cup. When Studebaker's home-state Hawks took home the Cup, Studie was due some of Philly's finest.

Studebaker was first introduced to members of the South Philly Chiefs bar when he was a member of the Eagles. Fate would have it that the Chiefs would pluck Studie off of the Eagles practice squad just a few weeks after the Big Charlie's encounter.

Chiefs' Studebaker putting himself in position at linebacker
Andy Studebaker is unlikely to steal many snaps from Mike Vrabel once the real season begins, though the Chiefs have looked at him as an outside linebacker in nickel situations, with Vrabel moving to the inside. If nothing else, Studebaker, 24, appears to be solidifying his place as the eventual replacement for Vrabel, who recently turned 35 and last winter signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs. — KC Star

Cardinals will be reporting on Saturday, football is upon us.

The team looked BIG and STRONG. Each year more and more NCC players are looking like the Hulk!  I heard only 40 or so freshmen showed up.
