To me the one that stands out in the list is Jon Beutjer from Wheaton Warrenville South.  He is sixth in the overall list with 79, but he had 60 TD's his senior year.  That was a scary good high school team.

Who coached that team by the way??   ;) 8-)

Augie is not the same team as in 2005.

We too now have a passing offense led by a quarterback named David Lee.  He has broken a couple of passing records held by Augie Alumni Kenny Anderson. (NFL great/MVP winner)  Therefore the sunny warm weather should benefit Augie as well.  We have good team speed and some good talented playmakers on offense.  Our defensive speed is the Vikes strength.

I think Barnes and Thorne are 2 of the best coaches in preparing their teams for battle each week.  Barnes always seems to put his teams in a position to win the BIG game in the end.  It seems like in more recent times, however, the result has
gone against Augie.  I am hoping that changes tomorrow.

GO AUGIE...................... Return to your throne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (extra loud)

Its gameday!

5 hours until NCC and Augie hook up for what hopes to be an epic battle.
Augie is overdue for that BIG win.
Here's hoping the Vikes can play error free ball today and move the ball against an outstanding Cardinal team.
Can I add quarterback protection as key for Augie today?

So.............  we have 1) rush for 100yds
2)hold NCC to 28 pts or less
                                  3)win TO battle
                                  4)protect LEE
That shouldn't be
too difficult, right?

Go Augustana..... Celebrate the 1985 National Championship's team 25th anniversay today and GET THE WIN.

Stagg Again!!

Just wanted to quickly put Viking Mike's "Goals of the Game" to the test.  To date, Auggie has played against the following teams (with stats and national rank):

AC Pts.     Rush Defense y/g      Pass Def. y/g    Total Def. y/g     Opp. Win %
Greenville (2-3)        28           205 (#204)                189 (#120)       394 (#181)        .437 (#132)

Adrian (1-3)             21           173 (#172)                196 (#132)       369 (#145)        .700 (#13)
Millikin (3-1)             28          131 (#100)                 215 (#166)      346 (#118)         .466 (#114)

                              39 (#26)    462 (#19)          1.0 (#42)         5.0 (#3)                    12 (#1)

AC                         Def p/g       Total Def. y/g     TO Margin        Sacks Allowed p/g     Rushing Off. y/g
                             16.5 (#48)  244 (#24)          -.25 (#132)      2.0 (#130)                123 (#143)

#1) Rush for 100 yards -- Looks VERY difficult.
#2 Hold NCC to 28 points or less -- AC's defense is tough -- very possible, but AC has only scored 25 ppg against weaker defenses.  Looks like AC needs to hold NCC to less than 21 pts.  This could be difficult, but is possible.
#3) Win TO battle -- Always possble, but statistics not in AC's favor.
#4) Protect Lee -- See results from NCC v. Carthage game.

AC rushed for 88 yards.
NCC scored 34 points.
No turnovers in the game.
NCC had 4 sacks for 31 yards and 6 TFLs.

Looks like Viking Mike was right ... if AC failed to meet his keys to the game they would lose.
